Hi I do like the odd vintage watch to add to my very small watch collection and I’ve been looking at the vintage FL sea king and following an internet search I do appreciate that there are numerous iterations of this watch but I do like the look of some of them and their movements seem to be good quality and robust.

I was just wondering if anyone on the forum had any hands on experience of these vintage watches wrt workmanship, quality of movements etc…

I also found out from my internet search that FL are an old established swiss watch manufacturer and have had a checkered history with regards ownership and that the quartz crisis of the late 70’s early 80’s sent them in a different direction.

Watch gecko have an interesting piece about their history but I’m not sure my IT skills will allow me to be able to add the link….see below…

Just tried the link and it appears to work ….:D

Sorry, I missed this earlier.

As @sinner777 succinctly pointed out, a lot of “Vintage Favre-Leuba” are redials (questionable quality) and possibly Frankenwatches from the Subcontinent. I was caught out a few years back, in my early and indiscriminate days of vintage collecting. Fortunately it wasn’t expensive.

Be very careful.

Hello this is my first time posting in this platform. I recently came across an opportunity to buy my first mechanical watch but I want to make sure it's authentic. I haven't been able to fine any info. on this watch so, I'm hoping someone could help me. It's a Sully special watch for like the 50s or 60s.
Thank you in advance :D

@CostlessStream - Welcome to the Forum.

I know nothing about Sully watches. However, I have found a thread Sully Watch - What's So Special? on TheWatchForum.co.uk which gives a reasonably detailed account and history of the brand.

I hope this is of help.
