I'm a bit of a fan of electronic watches.

Not quartz ones, although I have plenty, but the 'hummers' that preceded them.

I have 3, a Longines, an Omega and this new arrival, a Bulova Accutron Deep Sea.

Image

Bulova obviously think it's a good style as they have released a new Accutron range with Precisionist quartz movements and one is extremely similar to this.

Nice, I have an Omega f300 and there's just something about the way the second hand glides round the dial.

The last time I bought some straps from Crown & Buckle I noticed they also sold Polywatch, so I added that to the basket as well. Really glad I did, as this stuff is certainly magical.. 5 minutes of rubbing and the acrylic looks brand new:

This is a bit of an oddity.

It's a Sicura (who went on to buy the Breitling brand and so who are now Breitling, but back then were just another mass market Swiss watch maker before Quartz decimated the industry).

Image

It's an automatic, about 36mm across and has a hint of the Royal Oak about it - I think it dates from the mid-70s and I've never seen a similar one anywhere, although they seem to have made a lot of different case styles, so maybe it's not that unusual.

The dial never photographs well, always looking matt blue, but it is, in fact, a lovely metallic finish that catches the light.

Very nice, I do like these a lot.

The electronic watches are an interesting alternative to a mechanical watch 8)

That is a gorgeous watch. My wife's birth year too. Wonder if I could get her one and I could look after it for her, maybe wear it now and again.

It really is a fine watch. I think your idea to take care of one for your wife sounds good.

'61 Geneve today, but tomorrow will be wearing '71 Garrard. It needs some work done on the crystal but I love the red second hand.
