1975 Seiko Elnix 07 ELW. Quite an interesting watch for vintage enthusiasts, this was Seiko's last iteration of an EB movement, or Electronic Balance. The mainspring and going barrel are replaced by a coil under the balance wheel which has two magnets attached and operates a normal mechanical escapement, powered by a battery. The switching is controlled by transistor, it has 16j and beats at 28,800 vph. The first electrical watch was introduced in 1957 with the Hamilton Ventura, a favourite of Elvis Presley who wore one in the film Blue Hawaii (early product placement!). The first Seiko EB appeared in the 1968 JDM catalogue, and the next four models were sold internationally. The Elnix, the 'Last Emperor', was introduced in 1973 and was priced at the same level as King Seiko. But the Astron, the world's first quartz watch had been launched in 1969 and very soon electronic balance movements were superseded (as was almost the entire Swiss watch industry!) and the Elnix disappeared from the catalogues in 1976. My example is a JDM model with Kanji and English calendar, and I bought it with the manual and sales tags - NOS 'deadstock' .

My Omega cal 622. Catch the light and the dial goes from dark inner to dark outer; quite a trick 70 years ago I guess.

Similar, but different to Pete's Omega, and very much more showing its age, my Omikron AS 1950 on a CW Croc grain strap with Bader.
