Soooo, I got over excited on a trip to Brighton last week and bought my first vintage watch A 1966 Longines, which has now sent me off down the rabbit hole of vintage watches, and Longines in particular. I don't know anything else about it yet, other than the year it was made.
Are there any recommended vintage watch forums that are as friendly and helpful as this one? Ideally with a decent UK usership? An active Longines section is a bonus.
Whist not a massively active contributor, this forum is my internet home for watches (first post back in 2010 and 4 CW's in the watch box!), but I'm sure there are forums more focused around vintage than CWforum out there.
Here's an arty photo my other half took the night I bought it.

What a beautiful watch!
I think vintage Longines are lovely and would be a wonderful rabbit hole to fall down.
I don’t know about vintage forums but I hope you’ll post a picture or two here as you go along

I've certainly never found a Forum dedicated to vintage watches. I've collected mostly Oris and belong to the Oris Club but they meet in London which I last went to 30 years ago! I'm thinning down my Oris collection at the moment and I'm about to put three up for sale - they all work and the oldest two have been serviced within the last three years. They need to go to someone who appreciates vintage watches and I don't want a huge amount of money so if you're interested please PM me

Try The Watch Forum, it's for watches in general, but has an active vintage watches section. Some of the guys there undertake amazing research on the most oddball of watches and seem to have catelogues and access to data from the UK and abroad going beyond the start of the last century.
I think a 60's Longines will be easy for them.
And yes, I am a member, same user name, and love the research these guys do on their 'old tat' as they like to call it.

Thats a very kind offer NigelS! There isn't much in the watch kitty after the recent purchase, but I'll drop you a PM just in caseNigelS wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:05 am I've certainly never found a Forum dedicated to vintage watches. The other forum with an wactive vintage section is WatchuSeek. Some of the guys on the vintage forum are utterly brilliant, most users are US based though.
