I came across this 70's Seamaster for sale. It is being sold as "unworn/mint condition" - although the strap is a new Hirsch.
The model number is 166.0138 (Aka "Big Square"), It has a Cal 1012 Automatic movement (42 hours/28800) and the dimensions seem to be 37 x 40 x 10mm.
It is "fully serviced by accredited watchmakers" and comes with a 12 month warranty.
I have no experience of vintage watches, so I'd appreciate any views on how much this watch should cost at retail?

My best guess due to condition/unworn I would put at £500-£600 & maybe upwards.

I would agree with Graham they do normally sell at around £500-£700 retail . But it would depend on who is selling that model in that condition . It would not surprise me if some would ask £1000+ in that condition with a 12 month warranty .
I agree , on the bay I have seen these sell at £200-£300 but not in the same condition .chrisw wrote:have paid as little as £295 on the bay

Thanks for the replies. It is for sale at £650, which - from what you have all said - sounds reasonable.

I hate to be "that guy" but this looks so much nicer than the C5 slim2, or whatever silly name it has. A square watch that exudes class.

I doubt you'd have much trouble moving it on at a similar price if it didn't work out between you. I for one think it's a beauty.
