C65 Sandstorm arrived today

Post by Clach77 »

Perhaps not a universally popular choice on the forum ( :) ), but my new watch arrived today. I’ve not long opened it, so my initial thoughts are below:

- It’s smaller than my usual choice of watch. But that’s OK and it doesn’t look like a toy.
- The colours work well.
- The date indicator is a great complication. But the date numbers are very small.
- I’m not sure it would work on a bracelet due to the amount of silver on the dial.
- I like it.

It has quite a 'vintage' look to my eyes, so maybe a 'Fixoflex' would suit?
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

Thanks folks.

I’ve worn it for a couple of hours now and it still feels small compared to all my other watches (it is smaller). But it has its place in my collection. I am going to have to just remember the date - the date numbers are too small to read at normal arm’s length.

I did think long and hard about buying one, but I’m pleased that I did.

Real life pics do better justice to this watch than the official ones. Is that a soft bluish glow to the lume or are the indices colored blue? Very cool look if it’s the latter.

Having never had this kind of watch.....when it's a short month, I take it you just wind the date forward as any other watch? Or do you have to wind the hands around?

Nice watch, not sure about colour of strap for me, but as long as you are happy ... great !
Remember...your left hand has the thumb on the right hand side

I’d not touched the date as it was set when the watch arrived. I’ve just checked and it works in the same way as a date wheel on any other three handed watch.

Congratulations on the acquisition - enjoy in good health! Certainly looks good to my eyes...

I agree with the comment on the "vintage" vibe but can't quite put my finger on what exactly makes me feel that way (perhaps the smaller overall diameter coupled with the text size and the cut-out numerals at the cardinal points?)

Would it be fair to say that the dial colour is a muted black or deep grey rather than a true black?
cheers

Thanks! Intriguing choice of color for the lume...when not glowing, that is.

That would indeed be fair. The dial is certainly not back. Grey or charcoal would by my best description.

I so want to like this watch, I really, nearly do.

I'm stopped by the clean simplicity of the dial and the limited amount of "things going on/things to look at". I have a couple of vintage watches and just know that I respond better to other styles. I know also that my sandwich dial watch ticks some boxes for me but only on a part-time basis.

Then I look at the crown and think it's "a bit fat" but accept that any negativity towards the crown is almost certainly due the fact that the design isn't grabbing at me.

Hey, I've just clocked the date wheel. Neat.

I do like the look of these and did think for a bit about buying one, however a Christmas purchase of something else put paid to that idea. I thought it did look good on the bracelet too and probably would have gone for that version. I take your point about the date numerals being perhaps a little small for practicality but it is a really neat feature and the sandwich dial just looks superb. Nice to see one of these on the forum.

Great photos, this watch is really growing on me. A nice combination of layers, textures and materials, and the size for me is perfect!
