I'm not exactly convinced that Oris see CW as in the same market to be honest, Guy. I see Oris a step above CW but we all have our own opinions. I wouldn't pay retail for either brand but I'd happily pay more for an Oris than a CW.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 3:40 pmwhat-time-is-it wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 2:15 pm £2700 is quite a chunk of change for a 43mm Aquis, albeit with a new fancy movement. I have plenty already so won't be buying, but it will be interesting to see what the secondary market makes of them if owners wish to move them on - can't help thinking it will lose a packet (I know that's not important for long term owners who are happy to take the hit).Look at the price differential between between a CW C60 with SW200 or the SH21 movements and you'll see where Oris are placing themselves.TigerChris wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 2:22 pm ^^ Agree, Chris. Moving into that price bracket for an Aquis needed something other than the movement to make it stand out. I'll stick with what I already have and wait for the next release. The secondary market will be interesting. For now though it looks like, in that price bracket, the Black Bay is still king.

Agreed Chris.what-time-is-it wrote:Personally I don't compare the two brands against each other - Oris in my experience produce better watches and focusing on the Aquis range have a solid weight, feel good on the wrist are are available with decent bracelets. Only downside is the unique lugs on some models.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 3:40 pm

Guy
Regarding price Oris yes are more expensive, but I'm happy to pay more for a better watch. For both brands, I wouldn't pay RRP or chase new models whilst they are being hyped/promoted.
Oris are a rung or two up the price ladder from CW.
What I'm getting at is the differential within the brand, be it CW or Oris, between regular and in-house 5 day movement. They seem fairly similar.

Oris already had a 10 day power reserve movement so wondering why this took them 5 years to develop.

Images shows 5 Days on the dial and the RRP is not for a standard 43mm Aquis - if you are outside of the UK, then it has probably removed the vat @ 20%. Don't know whether they ship overseas and or whether you would face import fees in OZ.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Looks to be the right thing. That's a very strange move if discounts are already being offered.what-time-is-it wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:50 am Already being discounted! Was £2700, now £2160...

Not a bad thing for the consumer mind you. Only thing I'd double check is the "2-year" warranty part, although it could be the same blurb copied from the standard models.
When is yours arriving Chris?

Ah yes, of course, their system dropped the VAT on recognition of my location..what-time-is-it wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 10:36 am Images shows 5 Days on the dial and the RRP is not for a standard 43mm Aquis - if you are outside of the UK, then it has probably removed the vat @ 20%. Just out of curiosity I put it in the cart and proceeded through checkout but stopped before payment..
The price stayed at £1,800 and they offer free delivery Down Under.
We would have to pay 10% GST (Goods & Services Tax) on delivery here.
