Battery change on a R20 Charlotte Deco.

Post by MiniMpi »

I finally did my first ever battery change on a watch !
Normally take them to my local jewellers who in fairness is very good or send them off to CW if they are newer pieces etc.
But the R20 Charlotte Deco that Louise has is serial number 0002 and the caseback is fairly free from scratches so I wanted it to stay that way. The caseback is held on by 4 screws, so I checked if I could open them easily first, which I could so after consulting the fantastic CW Archive to check the type of battery, I ordered a couple and I've done the battery swap this morning.
All went well, took my time also.
It appears the incorrect battery was in there !
Should be a 321 and there was a 319 in it !
I used a Renata 321 as they are recognized as being the make to use.
Very happy that it's all ticking away nicely now.

Great job, Ferg.

Nice to see the Archie being used as intended! :D

The half minute which we daily devote to the winding-up of our watches is an exertion of labour almost insensible; yet, by the aid of a few wheels, its effect is spread over the whole twenty-four hours.

Excellent Ferg.

I hear CW are looking out for a Watchmaker's apprentice.

Completed the change on my Russell C1, went with high capacity 315 Renata. All went well.
