New Oris movement - 15/10
I've received a few emails today from Oris regarding a new automatic movement that has apparently been in development for the last 5 years.
So far from the limited information, they have highlighted it's anti-magnetic properties and the fact it has 5-day power reserve.
It is due to be unveiled on 15th Oct. Watch this space ...

Interesting. I doubt it'll end up in a small case size, but I'll keep hoping.

Never a brand I have taken much notice of. Let's see what transpires...

That's pretty significant! Especially for an independent brand. Looking forward to the "official" announcement later today.StrappedUp wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 3:59 pm Latest info received via email today is that every watch fitted with this new movement will come with a 10 year warranty as standard.

Sadly no new model announcement (or future watch feature in the '21 brochure) to go with the new movement.
Great to see another 5 day calibre, hope they put it to good use in something desirable!

Agreed, a shame no new model - but when they do release one, they'll get more press coverage.
Fully expecting something that's £4k+

Re: New Oris movement - 15/10
It looks to be an exciting development for Oris. The ten year warranty seems to be a new benchmark. I do wonder what the service intervals will be if they've replaced the bearings for the rotor with a slide bearing in a lubricated track.

Mind you if it is just a need to relube the track every once in a while the servicing might not be too expensive or frequent. Time and the first wave of buyers will tell.

As a follow on to my previous post... Hodinkee state that the service interval is also ten years.

Re: New Oris movement - 15/10
The spec’s look very impressive and its dimensions of 28mm diameter and 4.75mm depth make it a very compact movement, basically about the same as an ETA2824/SW200 but with twin barrels and a 5 day power reserve.
I listened to an interview with the Oris NA CEO and he was positioning it for premium everyday (my words) watches above the existing Selitta based models and below their calibre 11x range. That could put them in the £2-£3k price range??
With regards warranty, it’s 10 years for the movement, not necessarily for the watch. Again he suggested there might be intermediate service intervals for checking some other factors such as water tightness, etc.
I’m sure we’ll see some announcements in the next few weeks.

Taken from an article today on Watchpro;-
"The movement has been unveiled this week, and will be used in an Oris watch for the first time at the end of this month (the watch is currently under embargo)."
