Current view as I social distance in the mountains of western North Carolina. You can’t hear the river through the image, but trust me, it’s there. And it’s wonderful. Consider this a cross post with the “What are you drinking” thread - Citradelic Tangerine IPA from New Belgium, a perfect summer beer.

Signing off for a few days. So you all next week.

Looks wonderful, Andrew. The IPA is intriguing, I will definitely try it if I can find it here. Enjoy your time away.

Good guess, Weybourne.
Went on it last year with the kids and remember pointing out the windmill. It’s a lovely part of the world.

SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: Here we find the humble history teacher. After having travelled south at the end of the teaching season, he is known to establish himself in more peaceful, quiet surroundings, as he prepares for yet another teaching season. Perhaps he is recovering from last season with some lighthearted distraction. Or maybe he has settled in to a heavy tome in anticipation of some challenging teaching in the fall. Regardless, notice how he suns himself in the soft afternoon light, with the gentle sounds of the river lulling him hypnotically.

I’ve spent the last few days riverside, just reading, drinking, and relaxing. This is a quickie with my iPhone and going a little crazy with the editing sliders.

Sadly, I haven’t been able to capture the image in my head with my camera. I think I need an ND filter so I can slow the shutter speed down enough. Oh well.

Spectacular, great pics and they look strong to me but the closest I have got so far is a fluctuating glow in the distance with no real definition.

They can create some wild colors and the whole sky could be lit.
