Visitor #4: Duneshore #2

Post by gaf1958 »

I have a bit of a fondness for Visitor watches - I own three of them; the first was a Vale Park Officer with a pocket watch style case back; next came my favourite, a Calligraph Duneshore and the third is a Calligraph Linden. There is a distinct family resemblance between the dials of the Duneshore and the Linden, but the cases are radically different.

I took an opportunity recently to come to an agreement with Guy (Bahnstormer_vRS) to buy his Forest Green Duneshore. It arrived yesterday and I’m very, very happy with it.

The Duneshore is a bit of a Marmite watch (as, most likely, are all of the Visitor releases to date), but I’m firmly in the “loving it” camp. The Forest Green in many lights appears black, in stronger light the green shows through, but it’s a lovely subtle and very dark green with an occasional hint of blue-green; very different from my other Duneshore.

Without further ado; here it is.

This is my original Duneshore with a Beach dial; a lovely sandy colour, giving it a very different look to the almost Black Forest Green.

The other Calligraph, the Linden has a distinct family resemblance...

The Vale Park is its own watch...

Although it wouldn’t be for me, I do find myself with a growing admiration for these smaller companies that dare to be different, offering something more than the standard generic diver or dress watch we seem to see so often. Nice one!

I think they’re all lovely. I’d like to have your climate, Gary, because somehow I think these would be at their best in the sun. They’re not particularly for hiding under a shirt cuff on a grey day in Scotland
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

A lovely addition to your Visitor brood. They are all very distinctive, although I think the Vale Park is probably my favourite.

Although my (now Gary's) Duneshore was to be found on display below a rolled back cuff on the North Coast of Scotland last September/October, when I used it as my evening watch whilst on holiday, touring the North Coast 500.

Glad my Duneshore arrived safe and sound Gary, it was a pleasure to be able to help you out and, from your pictures, the antipodean sun shows it off in a very good light. Image

Notionally, as I've spent them already on an IPK Speedhawk , the funds from the sale might well get put forward to the forthcoming Visitor Duneshore Shallows, already in production and due for release this summer. :D
