Which CW watches have a central minutes chrono?

Post by Bufadad »

I’ve been looking for a watch with a central minutes chronograph and noticed that the CW C7 Rapide Limited Edition had this capability. These seem quite rare and I can’t find one in my budget. This can’t be the only watch in which CW used this movement... or is it? Anyone know of any other CW watch with central minutes?

Good question and I look forward to hearing the answer.

By a complete coincidence yesterday afternoon I had slipped on a 70's Omega Seamaster which has a central minutes register and having just googled the question I would share this interesting article with you:

Central second hand different to central minutes counter (as per the Omega above and I think Damasko make one)?

He's right. A lot will have central minutes AND seconds hands like this Porsche Design which I thought was the same movement as the C70 series - could be wrong though.

It is my understanding that the Omega used a Lemania, or at least a Lemania based movement, which is where the famed 321 movement came from as well. Lemania was purchased by Breguet, which in turn, became a part of Swatch around 1999-2000. Breguet still uses the central minute counter in their Marine series chronographs. Damasko, I believe recently reworked and patented the center counter with a jumping counter complication.

Thanks to everyone for the responses! I've got some research to do. I would absolutely love any watch with a Lemania 5100 movement but alas, they are out of my budget.

Thanks (I think) to you as well. I have wanted a central minute counting chrono for years and you have now rekindled that old flame. Hmmmm.
