Is it John Lloyd doing the voiceover? Or perhaps just someone who sounds a bit like him. :D

I thought that the way he said “precisely” sounded a bit like John Cleese. :)

'Ingeniously English, reassuringly Swiss' might've been a better strapline...

Interesting that they went with this sapphire number for their first TV advert, The watch could be a little niche for a lot of tastes. Still, it certainly has a visual presence, the watch that is.

Applause all round, definitely daring, not to say rather pushy for a watchmaker. Not really my cup of tea though....

The 1960s middle England voice over is at odds with what i thought the brand wanted to be. Either way, the voice over sounds arrogant and is disconnected from this day and age for me

Sounds like Arthur Lowe to me. I half expect him to suddenly shout 'stupid boy' or introduce Mr Tickle

A very clever voice over then. :)

As we are all picking up on different voices and styles of delivery that it reminds us of!

Disruption at its best.

It will probably achieve the aim which is brand awareness, and the cheesy voice over (script and voice) will make it memorable!
I have no doubt that Mike's mate from BBH has a full campaign planned out, I hope it is successful for them.

This does sound very much like John Lloyd. The style of the voiceover is very 1950s - 1960s. It reminds me of "Q" in the Bond movies and seems to be a synthesis of both Desmond Llewellyn and John Cleese in that role (more John Cleese in the vrbal style, more Desmond Llewellyn in the actual words).

I agree completely - and it's as if they haven't watched the advert through as the potential customer (who doesn't know of Christopher Ward) they are aiming to attract. It doesn't mention that it's a watch until half way through, it doesn't mention the brand name until it's nearly over, and it's just so patronising sounding. Like one of those cheesy disaster movies where an American army member starts talking with a British Corporal for help! Cringe-worthy overdone pompous British-ness.

Let's face it, an advert is never truly advertising just a single product, but it's advertising your brand and it's values - something for someone to be/get emotionally attached with. That voiceover is just SO condescending that it has the opposite effect on my emotions!!

Nice looking watch though, the first of theirs I'd actually consider buying (at 30% off of course) for a long while.

I have to say...what a tough crowd.

From my perspective, I think it is a nice ad. I find it neither condescending nor arrogant. My only suggestion would have been to get the brand name out there a bit more and earlier.
