Cheers, Steve.

The Blood Bike group has made a few changes to working practices to further reduce the risks surrounding the virus etc, and I feel fairly comfortable in continuing to carry out the deliveries as things stand today.

It would be nice though - just once in a while - to do the job without the rain!

I'm extremely thankful to be able to get out on my motorcycle in these strangest of days. For me, the best form of social distancing...

And for today’s social distancing, I rode 22 miles. Not very social but enough distance, considering it was a bit breezy in parts and ever so slightly chilly.

The Gloucester to Sharpness Canal, just south of Frampton on Severn, at Splatt Bridge.

^^^looks like a good day for a bike ride, even if a little chilly. I am planning to do a lot of bike rides in the coming few weeks to keep the fitness up and get some fresh air.

^^^Thanks Paul. My cycling has dropped right off over the last two years due to a combination of injury and work changes. Just been told I have high blood pressure and need to exercise & lose some weight so needs must...wind or no wind!

A 25 mile cycle ride through some beautiful Somerset and Wiltshire countryside was all I needed to reclaim my sanity.

All's well in my world.

According to the Visordown website the latest instructions from UK Government is that only essential solo motorcycling is now permitted for the next 3 weeks

In an evening address from Downing Street [Monday 23 March], PM Johnson announced people must stay at home unless they are shopping for basic necessities, daily exercise, medical needs, care for vulnerable person and travelling to and from essential work (unable to work from home).

Shops selling non-essential goods (food, medical supplies) have been ordered to shut as of tonight with gatherings of more than two people who do not live together in public not permitted.

The ruling supersedes the measures introduced on Friday when travel restrictions were not put in place. In the motorcycling context, this allowed people to venture out on their bikes in solo, albeit discouraged from riding in groups.

However, on a weekend of good weather it was clear the suggestions were not heeded with large crowds venturing out and congregating in public places.

As a result, the new measure – effective as of now for the next three weeks – means group riding is officially banned and solo riding must now only take place for the essential means as stated above.

That's a shame for me.

I used the GS for my two trips to the pharmacy today - although I barely got out of 3rd gear for more than a mile. Tomorrow, I'll be blood biking so that'll have to be my weekly fix.
