Too many watches....

Post by tikkathree »

I hit this bump from time to time.....

triggered, I'm pretty sure, by the slightly earlier than anticipated arrival of a grail, Omega Seamaster Regatta, I'm in a phase of "don't want to wear this... don't want to wear that...."

I'm only interested in wearing the new arrival

but I don't want to commit to let go any of the others

and then, out of the blue, I was contacted by a brand with the temptation of a new model and would I like to express a commitment.... :silent: :silent: :silent:

I guess the answer rests with me: man up ya wuss! Just wear something else and break the hypnosis

Anyone else ever get this?

Here is a dumb idea I stumbled onto a year or so ago...I keep my watches face down in my watch box so as not to see them. Then, best as I can, force myself to wear the same thing for the whole week to work. When it comes time for a change, I may not have laid eyes on a good portion of the contents for a month or more and they appear somewhat fresh and new again.
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

Opinions vary as to whether or not I have too many watches; there's my opinion and the other halves.... I have been trying to thin the herd though (my motives are impure, as then I can buy more    ).

I tend to wear a new watch for two weeks to a month before the honeymoon period cools. After that it goes into the rotation. Except for my Speedy Mk II I tend to wear each watch for a week which lets me rotate through the collection a couple of times through the year.

How are visits to the gym going? Are they helping you with the weight of the Speedy Regatta?

I struggle to get to the gym and I'm not wearing this and risking gravel rash so something else gets wrist time for the daily aerobics.
Actually I'm a long time wobbler wearer so the Regatta just feels right. Image

I think it's heavier than the Speedy Mk II but I haven't put them on the kitchen scales to find out. It is a lovely, lovely watch though.

And the answer is...... 227g against 110g for the MkII: your instinct is correct.Image

I presently own 43 watches, and use a spreadsheet to determine "watch of the day". When I was younger I had a similar rotation system for women :D

The same cannot be said for women however. ONE is enough!

With the collection at last count numbering 153, I think I can say that’s probably a few too many... even for me.

That doesn’t mean that there are no watches that I want to buy - of course there are; plenty of them. It’s just that I really think I need to reduce the numbers a little first. Of course, it may not a good time to be selling watches at the moment, so either I

1) wear a loss in selling some,
2) be very patient and wait for things to pick up, or;
3) end up with 154 of the little buggers.... :|

Yup.

I've got a similar conundrum, but with about half the number. Haven't counted recently.
