Trident C60 600 vs ?
Hi All,
Looking to buy something as a belated birthday treat after deciding that I couldn't justify pulling the trigger on a 2019 Seamaster just before Christmas.
I have a few CW (C3 Malvern, C60 Trident 300 Red & C7 Rapide) a few seikos and a Steinhart Ocean 1 Vintage.
I decided after the seamaster that I really wanted a blue dial dive watch and am leaning heavily towards either the C60 Pro 600 or the C60 Trident GMT.
The only thing with going up in budget was what else did this bring into the mix as another possible option
Other considerations are:
Ramond Weil Freelancer
https://raymond-weil.co.uk/product/stee ... ue-dial-4/
Longines Hydroconquest
https://www.longines.com/watches/hydroc ... 81-4-96-6
Hamilton Khaki Scuba
https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-gb/h82 ... lsrc=aw.ds
Certina DS Action
https://www.chisholmhunter.co.uk/certin ... celet.html
or something else?

Thanks - not a massive fan of the look of that.
Plus at that price point I'd be looking for a ceramic especially given how clumsy I am
Edit: I have double checked and a few of the watches I've linked don't have a ceramic bezel - I think depending on price I could live without it, but I do know some of those has a ceramic model just at a higher price point.

Not a fan of the Ramond Weil or Certina. The Hamilton isn't bad but the dial is too busy for me. The Longines is the best of the bunch. I did read someone said the new Trident had the same quality finishing as his Hydroconquest so they're pretty even.
Personally, I would go with the blue Trident. All-around fantastic look with a beautiful color, quality bracelet, and completely modern features. It's honestly hard to beat at retail price; let alone on sale.

I briefly had the black version of the Freelancer and compared it with a Trident Mk2 at the time. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48037&p=701780&hili ... er#p701780
I've also had the pvd orange version, but have since sold it.
Watches are good, in my opinion the omission of crown guards was a negative as the crown often pushed into my wrist. The crystal is better than a CW as it's coated on both sides. The rubber strap fitted to mine was comfortable, but creased easily.

If the C60 wasn't already one of the best value propositions around, it shouldn't be in doubt with the release of the Mk3, especially if you can snag one under RRP.
I recently purchased a 40mm GMT and took a side-by-side with my Aquis before returning it (marginally too big).
Specs wise it beats the Aquis, although when you bring all the elements of the watches together, the C60 doesn't come close imho.
Everything from the physical proportions to the aesthetics is just so well balanced on the Oris.

I think the Oris is quite underrated, always really liked the Aquis Red LE. Proportions, colours, bracelet (and Im not gen a bracelet person) etc. I tried one on ages ago in their west end pop up and wished id purchased when funds allowed.. at the time/price though I just couldn't get past the value of the Trident.
Heres a pic of it (not mine): And as a left field option, recognising its a love it / hate it type of watch I quite like this Emile Chouriet and a couple of their others Their choice of retailer for the UK leaves a little to be desired but its different and has a decent spec:

Personally, whilst more expensive than the C60, I think the Aquis is unbeatable for quality and the variety of colours/complications/sizes.

The balance comes from the logo at 12 and there not being a big gap.....I'll get my coat....StrappedUp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 12:35 pm

I do really like the Oris, one of the reasons I didn't list it above was that it was quite a bit above the others in terms of price and also the colour.
The blue dial isn't really the blue that I'm looking for that the others have.
