My apologies Gary, I'm still not quite with it.

The sentiment still stands.

I don’t do anything serious with movements, just low level stuff, but yes almost 40 years of watch “fiddling” have taught me a thing or two. I started with cheap stuff that wouldn’t make me cry if I stuffed them up - and there were a few in the early days, before I learned that watches require the right tools, not just a hammer and a saw... ;)

As I gained a bit of confidence I was prepared to do more and more. It didn’t hurt that I had struck up something of a friendship with an old school watchmaker who was quite happy to show me a thing or three. Sadly, he’s no longer with us. I can however impart one thing he taught me; know your limitations and don’t try something you haven’t already done successfully with something you can’t afford to either scrap - or pay a professional to fix...

You are a clever old sausage Gaz  The result is certainly worth the experimentation. Very nice indeed!

So Gary, when do you start taking orders for custom watch commissions? :D
Did you work on any of the Speedys yourself?

That's very cool Gary. The dial looks great with the clean, modern bezel. Please keep giving us these ideas and inspirations.

I like your creation Dr Frankenstein, I mean Gary. As a past owner of a C600 IPY, I really love that yellow dial and it works well in the C60 case with the ceramic bezel.

With Omegas (and anything similar) I limit myself to bezel changes and things like that. I mentioned not working on anything I can’t afford to scrap... they definitely fall into that category. Image Anytime one of them needs to be opened, it’s a professional who does it. A 2824 on the other hand can be readily sourced if I do something stupid.

Thanks all, I’m pleased and a little surprised by the number of responses. And Patrick, you didn’t mention the other advantage - fear of scratches on the black PVD of the C600 - the reason why this one got the Dr Frankie treatment.

I love the bold dial and hands of the c600 so it's fascinating to see them with a more refined bezel. Excellent work.

That looks great Gary, although one thing that may improve it imo is a fully brushed case/bracelet.

Good work

You are far braver than I Gary! Curious: Did you ever consider keeping the C60 hands or was it always to drop the dial/hands of the C6 into the C60 case?

Thanks Garry... I must admit that the C600 bezel is one that took me a while to like, even though I already liked the C6 one.

Thanks Ryan. For the moment it will stay partially polished, but who knows...

Not so brave Lance, as no swapping of hands was ever contemplated, just the entire “guts” in one piece. I’ve done hands once before, but only on a “throwaway” watch, and I’d need to invest in better tools than the ones I have before doing it again. Besides, my intention was always to have the black hands against the yellow dial.

There are two reasons I’ve not bought a C60 LE in yellow - I much prefer a black bezel (or red, blue or whatever) to the LE’s steel one. I know that’s an attraction for many, but not for me - I sold an orange LE virtually unworn because of the steel bezel (although I do now own a non-LE orange with black bezel, that I like).

I also really like the contrast of the c600’s big black hands against the yellow - the LE has the much less contrasting silver hands. So I saved myself from even contemplating whether I should risk changing the hands on something I value, by preferring the hands already in place. If that makes sense...
