C60 Franken . . . Mk II.

Post by gaf1958 »

C60 stainless case... Check.
Ceramic bezel... Check.
ETA automatic movement... Check.
Tritium tubes... Check.
Yellow C600 dial... Check.
Original logo... Check.
Any others in existence...? Unlikely.

May I present the C60 Franken Mk II. The Mk I Franken had a C6 Kingfisher quartz movement/yellow dial/hands in a C60 Mk I case (not a perfect drop in fit). This one is a C600 yellow dialled movement in a C60 Mk II case (fits like a glove).

C60 Tri-Tech Elite or C600 Trident?

The original Mk I, with quartz movement is here:

You certainly like to keep your local watchmaker busy Gary.

Top notch result.

Where is the other Franken though?

You know. The one with a black C600 case and bezel and C60 MKII black(?) dial & movement.

Great results, form & function!
Being new to the whole watch modding world (as evidenced by my recent Mitsukoshi thread) are there any other CW creations on the forum or is it just you so far Gary?

Watchmaker? All my own work m’lud. Don’t need a watchmaker for that, although admittedly I can’t do my own pressure tests. Yet... ;) They’re cheap enough to get done though.

Close, but at the moment I’ve put it in this MkI GMT case, leaving the C600 case empty... I may yet put it in a C6 case, but time will tell.

There are a few others. Alex (clach77) has an automatic cream dialled C6 Kingfisher to match the factory yellow, burnt orange and blue versions. He also has a bead blasted C600 (or maybe even two). Former member 28800bph has a fabulous fluid filled C6 Kingfisher - a genuine engineering feat.

As someone who has been wearing his Yellow Kingfisher almost daily for a few years now but has also been wishing recently that it was an automatic with a ceramic bezel... I love these! :+: Maybe rather than buying a new watch I need to look into doing some modding of my own too! :D

Yes, I have been thinking a lot about my next watch!

Do you just experiment with these yourself? Did you start off learning by pulling other watches apart?
