Quartz SMP battery ?

Post by Alex r »

My seamaster has just started with the low battery hand sweep and is going to needed changing. The crown has never clicked since I bought the watch and I have learnt to deal with it. This has not effected the water resistant as have been swimming and diving with no I'll effects.
Has any one used watch lab ? And would they look at the crown on a battery and reseal. Or would it be an expensive service.

I have just sent my daughter's SMP to Swiss time services for a battery change which seems to be £75 from the website. I used them previously for a full service on a vintage Seamaster and I was very impressed by the communication and quality of the work. They have already confirmed that the watch has arrived and if you are not in a rush I can let you know how that pans out.

I have not used Watch Lab but I did go into the York branch not long after it opened to enquirer if I could buy some spring bars from them and the two lads seemed particularly unhelpful and not that knowledgeable. It could have been a one off I suppose.

Thanks Andy
Will have a look at Swiss time thanks for the link. Have been passed watch lab quite a bit but have never been in , not seen many customers in there either And reviews seem to be mixed.

Someone else to check out Alex are David Carpenter in Tunbridge Wells.

They are accredited service agents for Omega, TAG and others.

I used them for a battery change including pressure test, on three of my quartz watches back in July. They were very reasonably priced and turned them around in pretty good order.

Hope this helps.

Have used http://www.swisswatchworkshop.co.uk/ for a battery replacement on a Tag. £80 including a pressure test and excellent service / communication from Ernest.

Also Omega specialists ( among other top brands ) so would be able to address the other issues, no doubt much more cost effectively than Omega.

Just e-mail them with your requirements and go from there if it suits.

Cheers,

Paul
