Re: Rugby World Cup
So in the end no real surprises in the SF lineup.
I would love to see England go through, of course, but I just think the ABs will have too much.
The other game will be a difficult call. I honestly think it could go either way.
Whatever, New Zealand will have two hard games ahead of them but I still see them winning the whole thing.

Re: Rugby World Cup
That was a great performance
Now we just need to hold up our end of the deal to set up a first all northern hemisphere final.

Guy, I hope your car radio is working!
Never expected to see a game quite like that. Especially when you factor in two marginal disallowed tries that would have stood but for TMO calls.

Later part of the second half there seemed to be a couple of NZ forward passes that were missed. Fortunately didn't affect the outcome. England's defence was awesome.

Great win for England, there only ever looked like one team was going to win that game

Well played England. Awesome performance.
Hopefully Wales will see them in the final next week.

Hope so, Steve. Wales need to run them round the pitch for 80 min.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Still can't really figure out what happened there. England battered the All Blacks in every single area of the game. Was more like a 30 point game than a 12 point one.

Re: Rugby World Cup
1. Ball retention. Normally New Zealand don’t concede anywhere near that number of turnovers or for that matter penalties in the tackle and ruck situations.sproughton wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 12:14 pm Still can't really figure out what happened there. 2. Main reason for the above is constant pressure. England looked good going forward throughout the game, but they were outstanding in defence, particularly Underhill and Itoje, and Ford was very astute at keeping New Zealand pinned back in their own half, often their own 22.
3. England are a VERY good team! They have retained their traditional strengths, while adding considerable flair on the ball throughout all 15 players and showing real nous in defence. In short, they did an “All Blacks” on the All Blacks! Even when they were protecting Farrell to some extent.
The signs have been there throughout the competition, particularly the QF against Australia. England have had the edge against them in recent years, I know, and Australia were not at the races, but it was a significant demolition job, carried out pretty ruthlessly.
Tomorrow will be interesting – as well next Saturday. I’m very much looking forward to the GTG even though I will be in a car bound for Bristol during the match!
England will not fear Wales or South Africa, especially after this, but it will be a pretty titanic game, I think, whoever is involved. What a fantastic tournament this has turned out to be!

Re: Rugby World Cup
If NZ are allowed to do the Haka, then opponents should be allowed to confront them. Pathetic officials telling England to stay in own half. They were taken up the challenge of the Haka. Too much pandering to NZ Rugby by the World Cup.
I liked Farrell smiling at ABs during it tho, he thought they looked ridiculous too.
