Buying Guide: The New Luxury Sports Watches of 2019

Post by gaf1958 »

FOUR RECENTLY LAUNCHED ALTERNATIVES TO THE ALMOST UNATTAINABLE ROYAL OAK AND NAUTILUS…

If I were in this market, my first choice would be the Chopard (first pic) with an attainable price and a great look (don’t think I’d ever get tired of looking at that dial), but more realistically I’d be looking at the B&R, which at around 40% of the cost of the Chopard, is still a beauty.

But the others are also lip smacking, albeit with a heftier price tag...

Some nice looking watches there Gary, the Genta look but gentla on the wallet (sorry  ). I'd probably go for the B & R on the basis of looks vs price.

I think there is something a little Visitor-esque about the Laurent Ferrier, not the price though - CHF 172,000

Urban Jürgensen for me. High end but with a very low brand recognition.

That said the Chopard would be easier to get hold of and does look rather tasty.

I’d swerve all of them tbh. I like the Chopard - with one important exception- the awful Roman numerals...

Unbiased obviously but I can think of an alternative to the RO and nautilus other than these :D

I must not have good taste, as I find all of these unappealing, with the Laurent Ferrier and B&R being downright ugly.

That is a gorgeous watch. I think I prefer it’s clean look to the RO, the hexagonal screw heads look a bit Hublot to me (sorry AP fans :) )

Dare I say it ...

I actually prefer the ML Aikon to any of these.

Something a bit different in a similar style (if you can get past the construction company type name!) and a darn sight cheaper!

^^^^ Interesting view Ryan. I liked the Aikon when I tried it on.

Dial apart the bracelet had a similar feeling to this one.

Now if someone could do this dial texture with the GP bracelet.

Get rid of the horrible Roman numerals and that chopard would be a winner. I’m with Ryan though, the ML takes some beating.

Yeh, I think some of MLs stuff is really underated.

They have an interesting looking Aikon diver as well ...
