Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
Sadly the marketing dept doesn’t know the difference between US and UK military. At least they got a RN ship featured. A basic error like this does not help the credibility of the brand, I notice the video has been ‘panned’ on FB and dare I say rightly so.

Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
I've seen it, albeit only on the small screen of my mobile, link here and it does appear to have an American soldier and American (USAF) F16, but consider this.
The soldier, is dressed in Desert Camouflage uniform, could the British Army use the same as the US for operations in Afghanistan and the Middle East? However, the British Army does have its own recognisable Desert Camouflage uniform.
The F16 has a marking on the tailfin that looks like the RAF crest, and RAF pilots do cross training with the USAF and fly F16s, but why not use a Typhoon or Tornado which are the recognisable RAF aircraft.
At least they got British Army trucks right in the closing clip.
Being ex-Army I am disappointed, to put it mildly.
It could have been done so much better.

Guy, I admire your defence well done! Being ex-RAF (22yrs) I can honestly say I have never heard of our US colleagues letting the ‘Brits’ place a national marker on an aircraft belonging to Uncle Sam. A recent TV documentary on pilots training on the new F35 showed them training in the States in aircraft with RAF markings but these aircrafts were ‘ours’.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 8:38 am I've seen it, albeit only on the small screen of my mobile, link here and it does appear to have an American soldier and American (USAF) F16, but consider this.

The three UK Services share the same camouflage kit which from a distance looks similar to the Americans. However they are not interchangeable.
I am sorry the marketing dept has made such a basic error.
I like the look of the Cranwell and having served there for three yrs I am extremely tempted to buy one.

Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
Having now read some of the posts on CW's Facebook page, I think I was trying too hard to defend CW and create some aparant wiggle room for them.
One poster, who I know from the CWE group, has identified the Regimental insignia on the soldier's left upper arm as belonging to the 173rd US Airborne and I appreciate the explanation from @GTC854 above, in relation to the F16.
In summary, it's a fail from me (too).
Sorry CW.

Video appears to have been removed - the correct response imho until it's representative of the British military.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
My guess would be that CW marketing (or the company CW hired to make the video) purchased the clips from a stock video site and either couldn't find what they wanted in relation to UK military or couldn't be bothered to research the clips properly and used whatever clips they thought looked "cool." A quick search of a stock video site showed very little video of British military. Very poorly done by CW.
I just went on to the CW website and it looks like they took the video down. I guess they got the message that they screwed up.

Re: Introducing the C65 Military Range - Dartmouth / Sandhurst / Cranwell
Most folks likely won't care about this, but if their target market for these models is ex- or serving UK forces personnel then it's not surprising that they would spot the errors pretty damn quickly -- and it was never going to engender the intended marketing impact... (!).
The replacement seems OK.
I'm still going to pass on these and most other CW at the moment.

New to CW sorry - I'm keen to pre-order a Sandhurst, does anybody know if CW take the payment (I would use PayPal) straight away, or only on dispatch?
