FLE #8 model selection round 2
Staring over for a possible FLE #8 requires having a base model to start with.
Please choose from the below models which ones you would consider developing into an FLE. You may vote for up to 5 models but we will only be going with the top 2 to work with.
If a multi size model (e.g. C60) makes the cut we will have an additional vote(s) to select a size with that model.
Keep in mind the regular pricing of a model and assume that an FLE will be priced approx. £75/$100 higher as an estimate for an FLE.
This vote has nothing to do with my original post here, but if a C60 is voted in we can revisit the options from #'s 1-3 from that post.
The amount of interest in this poll may also determine if we move forward with this FLE or not.
You may vote for up to 5 models and you may change your vote.

The overwhelming popularity of changing the colour combinations of divers means this not going to work out well for me!

Don't give up yet. It is way to early.

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
Probably going off topic but I seem to remember that CWL offered up their own designs for a previous FLE, may be 2017. I can't find the post but found their design interesting. Can anyone locate the post? I feel something radical for the next FLE might be interesting. Changing the lipstick colour on an existing watch doesn't seem enough effort for a Forum LE.

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
If you look back at the original FLE thread that Kip started, CW did offer some ideas including never done before blue PVD case, 2-tone ceramic bezel and a smoked, semi-transparent dial.
Apart from the 2-tone bezel, the other suggestions were shot down at the voting stages.

I'm a long term lurker and have bought all the FLE models since 2011. As I have a few Tridents, I just couldn't get excited about a few cosmetic changes to faces or hands and have been sitting this one out.
However the blue case could be a very different matter and I would be in like a shot!

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
I think something like the blue case and/or blue see-through dial is really outside of the box and innovative and deserves a chance to run. I would probably be very interested in that, but I’m not going for anything bog standard with perhaps a different colour second hand or similar.
And I ain’t doing white dials!
Come on guys, let’s make it something special!

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
Thank you for your reply. In fact it was not the most recent FLE to which I was referring. On a previous year 2017 or even earlier they suggested some really original designs. Some were aviation themed, I think. I'll keep scouring the previous post. But thanks again.StrappedUp wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 11:56 am If you look back at the original FLE thread that Kip started, CW did offer some ideas including never done before blue PVD case, 2-tone ceramic bezel and a smoked, semi-transparent dial.

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
You might be thinking about 2015. There were a whole host of original designs from members (I seem to remember posting a take on the Trench Watch). We eventually, and very narrowly, settled on the C5 Slimline...Galton321 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 6:17 pm Thank you for your reply. In fact it was not the most recent FLE to which I was referring. Just a thought, but that Moonglow wouldn’t half look good with a blue case!

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
Mods ... feel free to move them to an existing thread or create a new one for "inspiration".
Armed with a rum in one hand and a computer mouse in the other, I started having a play around ...
Have also played with PVD case/crown, other dial colours, dial materials etc etc etc.
Have a great weekend all

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
Very nice, Ryan, but you've picked a model (C65 Auto with a C65 Diver bezel) that currently looks very unlikely to be in the top 2 in the vote in this thread. But perhaps some of those ideas, e.g. dial colours etc, could be used on the chosen models? We'll know the final result on Sunday.

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
I know ... that's what rum does to me
When I last looked, it was a 2-horse race with the C60 mkIII. Now the Dartmouth is out front with the C60s.
Would have based my fun and games on that if I'd gone back and looked again.
...
Oh well

Re: FLE #8 model selection round 2
One thing to note - if the final numbers go with the current trend, it would seem that the Dartmouth may be a finalist in the runoff of three, together with the C60 Trident and GMT. With the Dartmouth, there’s only one choice (size-wise) at 41mm. With either of the C60s (GMT or 3 hand) we’d have to have polls to decide whether to have it in 38, 40 or 42mm.
My gut feel is that it would be wise to determine which C60 size *before* deciding on any other details (colours etc) and get a true idea of how many people who’ve voted for these two models would buy any *specific* size. The Dartmouth is simpler as it only comes in a like it or lump it 41mm case.
Without wanting to pre-empt the process, I guess it may be wise to have a runoff vote before deciding on any other details such as colours, hands (or propellers) by voting for as many models as you would personally be willing to actually purchase, from the following three current leaders:
38mm GMT
38mm Trident
40mm GMT
40mm Trident
42mm GMT
42mm Trident
41mm Dartmouth
Guess which choice is simpler... and more likely to retain its initial voting numbers.
