Regarding Scotland, fortunately I was in France for a short break and wasn't able to see the match against Ireland. I didn't have much confidence before the game and the result just confirmed that. It's far from certain we will be able to beat Japan and Samoa to progress :problem:

Although i rarely watch the game, I'm very much enjoying the Rugby today, much better than following THFC.
Do England have a shot at winning, going on there opening performances?

Far too hard to tell given the quality of the opposition. Better today but still some silly mistakes. Hopefully no injuries and a long rest before Argentina to get up to shape.

I think England have a reasonable chance, but NZ and RSA have looked the most impressive so far - in RSA's case, even when being beaten by NZ.

Still to early to tell but England did get stuck in from the beginning, suggesting they can switch tactics to suit each game stage. New Zealand looked invincible and Wales looked snappy and nimble, at least from what I saw in the highlights. The timings of this years matches doesn't work too well for me, something I will have to remedy when we get to the semi finals.

Brilliant result for Japan! They played fantastic high-paced rugby, with tremendous defence, and thoroughly deserved their win.

Great for the tournament too.

Why did Ireland kick it dead? Did they think they had a guaranteed scrum/penalty advantage?

I wondered that too. I can only think their brains were pretty scrambled by then.

It’s not like Ireland to throw in the towel, so I can only imagine he didn’t hear the gong.

Watched the last few minutes and did wonder what Ireland were up to at the end.

Oh well, it's only a group game.
