The only problem I have found with TK Maxx is the watch description and photos are usually poor, which makes checking elsewhere for better details and images difficult.
'Tissot Automatic watch' for example - will probably get a few returns if searching on that.

I looked at one they said was 30mm and I know for sure it was 44.

Agreed, you need to know what you are buying. Descriptions and measurements are hopeless.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Some of the prices are a bit questionable too, seen the same watch one with rubber strap and one on a really nice looking bracelet.
They show the rubber one well over £200 more RRP which doesn't seem right.
But yes generally it's well worth a look on there for the odd bargain.

Didn’t you buy a ‘40mm’ Super Kontiki chrono Chris?

Yes, still have the Kontiki Chrono, but I returned the 'standard' Kontikis - just felt I'd always go for the Chrono and not wear the others.

Not 40mm however, 44 or 45 from memory.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Bought 3, returned 2 unworn in store with no issues regarding refunds. Staff tell me stock bought online comes straight from the warehouse so unlikely to have been on display.

Unstamped warranty cards however, so not sure whether they would covered if problems arise in the future.
Much as the warranty card is unstamped, wouldn't your email order / invoice serve to validate the purchase?

Possibly, but they are a discounted and not AD so I guess it would depend on the stance of the manufacturer and TK Maxx. Hopefully I'll never need to ask the question.

As I understand it they buy end of line old model year
or season goods from manufacturers. Watches2U do the same with certain watch brands.

It still pays to shop around however, I noticed Movado which is a brand I have limited knowledge of, have some watches with TK Maxx, but they are also are available at Goldsmiths for the same money.

Cheers Chris.

Guess it's a general case of Caveat Emptor.

I am drawn to these, but not enough as yet to buy one, decent review on 'ablogtowatch' also.

Just don't get the so called £200 RRP price difference, they are also a few years old so no current stockists to compare.

Indeed. My wife bought the ladies version of the Oris skeleton from TK Maxx that I posted upthread.

Firstly I discovered it was to be delivered by Hermes, who wouldn’t be my first courier choice for £800 worth of watch.

The outer packaging wasn’t terribly sturdy and it certainly looked like it had been piled under some weight. Upon opening, I’d say there was insufficient internal packaging and it was packed so that one side of the watch box had no padding at all and was flush with the outer box.

Then, on opening the watch box, the watch wasn’t even secured to the cushion - just loose inside the box.

The watch and bracelet itself still have their protective plastics applied and there is an unstamped warranty card. It appears to be running fine BUT is exhibiting a spinning rotor on winding.

Difficult to say whether that happened before or during transit. My wife is quite taken with it, so I think we’ll try and take it to an AD for advice.
Rich.

Interesting about Hermes, both of mine were delivered via DPD and packaging was ok, not amazing but no issues on arrival.

I suspect the people in the warehouse literally get the item, put it in a box and tape it up and they probably do this whether you are buying a set of towels or an expensive watch!

Fingers crossed it's ok - whether you local dealer will have the knowledge is another matter. :silent:

Second thoughts, may take it to the Oris boutique off Oxford Street...

yawn, another TK Maxx deal - but seems cheap for an auto chrono Tissot.
With 2 mins of Googling I reckon it's a T085.427.11.011.00 and currently £256.

Seiko Prospex SRPC31K1 on sale at £149 @ AMJ watches.

Decent looking field watch let down slightly by the Hardlex crystal.
