The Alpinist was the perfect choice for walking Eddie over Chatsworth Park this evening

Couldn't get it fitted initially as clearance between spring bars and case was too tight.

Was thinking of curved bars, discussed with Carl, he suggested the same and promptly put two pairs in the post.

Worked a treat, so sent him a donation to his Coffee Fund (assuming he drinks coffee).

Top notch that, Guy. But, you know I’m a big fan of Carl’s straps. Looks like a zero zero?

Cheers Chris.

Yes, a zero zero. Bit of hobson's choice for me as, with 21mm lugs, all of his straps with webbing lug sections are either 20mm or 22mm.

Still, the leather adds a touch of class befitting the watch.

Might try a different colour combination at some stage.

John, glad to be of some small assistance. I never tire of that green dial!

I’d be interested in your views on the Ocean 39. It looks a very good value proposition.

Hi Tim. The Ocean 39 is an incredible value, even compared against the CW Trident C60 GMT. I will say the one area where you can tell Steinhart cut costs is the hour indices as they are printed and generic in appearance, rather than applied, polished markers. The fit and finish generally is first rate. The display back, for example, is sapphire rather than mineral glass as in the Oris and my Glycine Airman, and the ETA 2893 is highly decorated. I'm very pleased with both the Steinhart and the Oris.
Best regards,
John

Is that a real photo? Looks like one of those VR things where you can 'virtually try your watch on' before choosing

Yes, it's real, but I see what you mean. We had weird, overcast lighting yesterday, so I'll pin it on that.
