Import charge

Post by kiter65 »

This has never happened before, ordered a couple of straps from Barton, cost about £26, received a notice for £12.76 customs charge  will have to think twice before ordering from them again :(

Probably £9 Royal Mail handling fee plus VAT, levied as value of goods was over the £15 VAT levy threshold.

Caveat Emptor. Simples.

Solution; buy straps individually to stay under the £15 threshold.

Yep, and Barton make that easy to do charging just $1.50 postage.

If it makes you feel any better I too got charged a similar amount recently for a purchase of 4 Barton straps. I'll try and remember to buy one at a time in future.

Fedex charges £12 for their service. I’ve not been that impressed by Fedex, but often the carrier isn’t the buyer’s choice.
