An incomplete list of things I have seen used as weapons during my career, and which should no longer be discussed on the forum as they fall under rules 1.4:

baseball bats
cricket bats
hammers
screwdrivers
drinking glasses
bottles
rings
ropes
clothing drawstrings
tables
plates
pottery
hands
arms
legs
heads
cars
motorcycles
bicycles
books
pipes
televisions
computers

Thankfully no watches (yet). I expect that all offending threads will be deleted forthwith.

I do find it amusing that a Trident is a weapon and is clearly CW's favourite.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

This isn't EBay, this isn't facebake. We are all responsible adults here and I'd love to know if we don't fit the profile of "male, pale and stale". This thread has become the equivalent of the "fat kid with the jam jar glasses" - just the catalyst and victim of everyone's humour.

I have just scrolled through all the contributors to this thread and to a man each has a post count of >1000. Some many thousands.

Working on the basis that none of the comments have been along the lines of 'don't be such a Richard head, you are wrong now get back in your box', it seems fair to conclude that there is some support for my views on this.

I am also really pleased that it has resulted in some much needed humour because, frankly, it is such a ridiculous situation that the only appropriate response is to laugh at it.

Lavaine's post listing items used as weapons made me smile and reminded me of a Tales of the Unexpected ( I know, showing my age ) where a woman beat her husband to death with a frozen leg of lamb.

I guess that's the 'What's for dinner' thread now cancelled then !

Totally agree Paul. An overzealous knee jerk reaction to an innocuous discussion. My mouth dropped open when I first read it and again when it was doubled down. And we wonder why participation in the forum is falling.

The amount of times I’ve written a reply then had second thoughts and not posted it in case I would have offended someone, if I had I would have doubled my post count by now or been banned
IMO the forum has become very stale and we have lost a number of very interesting/funny members :(
Where do we draw the line, a customer of mine was tragically killed on his motorbike a few weeks ago, do we stop posts about bikes in case I get upset about it or think they are too dangerous to talk about?

It's such a ludicrous concept that staying away from jokes would be extremely difficult.
Don’t understand your post, doesn’t grammatically make sense!
[The idea of banning chat about kitchen knives] is such a ludicrous concept, that [discussing it without making jokes] would be extremely difficult.

Made sense the first time, but hopefully less ambiguous now.

Makes sense now, thanks for explanation. And I agree with you, I just hate interesting threads going into a joke fest. Plus, I was in a bad mood as I’d just heard the news about Rafa.

Sorry, it’s too early for jokes :( Consoling myself with a large Gentleman Jack

As for that FCB, don’t get me started.

Apologies for drifting off topic.

We have a 'report this post' button on each and every post submitted. I'm assuming when submitted an email alert is sent to the mods for them to check the contents and make a decision to keep, edit or remove the post. I'd be amazed if the post that triggered this debate offended any contributors.

Mods should relax the rule book (again), but encourage the use of this button if users see content that's pushing the limits of acceptable for a grown up watch forum.

I'm not suggesting the forum should become a free for all, but some common sense please.
