Purely looking at the facts: The SH21 gets 5 days power reserve as opposed to just under 2, but is also a relatively unknown movement... while the SW / ETA movements are generally accepted as best in class.
The SH21 is a wonderful piece of engineering, but as used (so far) in the C60 you only get the 5 day PR and COSC for the very expensive uplift over a Sellita. These two remainder plain Janes really don't cut it compared with recent C60 mk2 colour schemes either, nothing special at all compared with recent LEs.

OTOH I am very happy with my C8PR where the SH21 permitted CW to create a unique watch at a phenomenal price point.

For anybody interested, why not make CW a lowball offer? After all these two have been in the unsold box for a long while now.

Agreed. Makes more sense in a C1 Gran Malvern Power Reserve. Even the name makes it feel like it’s worth it :-)

What makes the Mk2.1 cost £100 more on the RRP than the Mk2.2. Usually the price goes up about 5% on new releases.

I think one of the reasons for these being unloved is that there’s little to differentiate them on the outside to the standard releases at £1000 less. The lack of half an index at 3 doesn’t scream LE.

The white dial C60 COSC SH21 (Mk2.1) is an LE of 300 pieces.

The black dial (Mk2.2) is an open run edition.

Hence the price difference.

As to differences with the 'standard' Trident Pro there are several notable, but subtle, differences. The COSC SH21 is heavier, taller (has a deeper case back to accommodate the SH21), the date window is larger (easier to read?) with the date window further outwards toward the rehaut. Its not much, but they're important to the wearer.

A couple of factors perhaps affecting this…

Firstly, the excitement engendered by Trident 3 has possibly caused interest in the older styles to wane. Having said that, I suspect that if they were offered in any forthcoming sale at a tasty price they wouldn’t be around for too long.

Secondly, there have been a lot of special editions of the MKII Trident that look fundamentally similar, even if the movements are different. How many dive watches do you need?

Come to think of it, there is a thought process that a number of us seem to be going through at this stage in our WIS careers. How many actual watches do you need? Of course, there are still the one off buyers.

Not sure this would work. But, out of curiosity - has anyone ever tried it?

About a dozen!

Four to wear on a regular basis, including getting them wet.

One to leave in mint condition by never wearing it.

Two to wear occasionally, usually just for a few hours.

The others to just look at and question why you bought them in the first place.

Or the more sensible answer - none, as a twisty bezel watch isn’t really required to time stuff (just use a phone) and a 100m WR watch is more than sufficient for swimming. :D
