Ombré - Ageing nicely
Ombré - Ageing nicely
I posted a picture of my Ombré on another forum yesterday, and it reminded me how bright the bronze was when new.
Almost exactly six months later, I set out to recreate the picture:
The watch has been worn quite a bit, although not even close to every day. I definitely prefer the darkened case, and I guess it will continue to change for a while longer.

Not my CoT as you know (bronze, I mean), but it is coming on well, as you say.

Re: Ombré - Ageing nicely
Nice to see how it has aged Richard.
I am completely in love with my one and even though it gets very light use, about ever two weeks or so for a day or so, it has darkened nicely.
I am not 100% happy with the aged strap as it has lighted a lot close to the buckle end.
I may get the brown vintage oak strap for it as the darker strap will suit the patina now.

^^ Only my personal opinion, Ferg, but I don’t think brown straps do the watch justice. Black to Match the bezel would look better I reckon. I’ve always preferred the pics of the Ombré on the black canvas - the new black hybrid strap could be a good fit?

Looking good Richard.
How has the progress of the patination been?
Has it been steady and linear or quick to start with, tailing off recently?

Pretty steady, I think - although I've not been studying it.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 6:54 pm Looking good Richard.

I agree, Ferg. The aged strap is not great.MiniMpi wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 6:43 pm Nice to see how it has aged Richard.

The aged / distressed strap needs treating with some leather conditioner e.g. Gliptone, to feed and stabilise it, and prevent the top layer from flaking off.

I have a black vintage oak strap from a recent purchase so I may try that on on it ChrisTigerChris wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 6:51 pm ^^ Only my personal opinion, Ferg, but I don’t think brown straps do the watch justice. Re: Ombré - Ageing nicely
That Ombré looks fantastic. I think the black bezel suits it really well, much more than the all bronze bezel which comes on the bronze C60, and is prone to getting a little too dark - in my case, far darker than the case itself,

Re: Ombré - Ageing nicely
I do like the black bezel on the ombre. similar to the Tudor Black Bay Bronze in slate grey, which is incredible. But I think the blue dial on the bronze C60 looks nicer, although I haven't seen either in person yet. I'm considering buying the bronze/blue one soon.
