What happens now with any remaining MK2 stock ?

Post by Blackdog »

Question for those more experienced with the brand:

I would imagine that the stock of MK2 Tridents has not been exhausted, so what is the usual practice ? Will they be put on clearance or something like that ?

They probably will sell many off in the new year sale, which is fantastic.

There is usually a summer sale too.

Sales are regular occurrences on and off through the year.
They off-load old stock (usually at up to 50% off their usual price) as well as adding in some returns/press samples and other gently used watches at around 30% off.
The best way to get notification and pre-warning of these sales is to subscribe to their newsletters.
Hope this helps,

General advice would be to expect a few bargains here and there in July.

I think CW often offers sales during UK Father's Day.

So now I have to decide if I should wait and hope for a sale on the watch I'm considering, or use the $125 off coupon that expires on June 30th.... Tough choice!

Well, look at it like this – either way you would not be paying full price. Using the coupon, however, will mean a greater chance of securing the watch you want.

Sales, particularly when popular models appear at low prices, are a bit of a feeding frenzy as we say on here. It’s a lottery as to whether you are online when the sale goes live or whether you manage to get what you want into your basket and buy it.

I'm not sure if massive numbers of MkIIs should be expected to be available in any forthcoming sale. CW had plenty of time to run down the stocks.

The GMT models disappeared from the CW website weeks or maybe months before the MkIII release, the 38mm size of the standard version likewise and several Tridents appeared in the various top-ups of the Clearance section in the weeks leading up to the MkIII release.

The Tridents are generally the quickest to be bought in any clearance. That's bound to be so again if any do get cleared as eBayers will buy and re-sell them as "the final MkIIs available" and there's been some people that have said they prefer the MkII having now seen the MkIII so they'll be after them too.

There's bound to be another voucher offer in the near future so you could wait for a clearance and if unsuccessful then wait for the next voucher offer. Depends how patient you can be.

I'm not actually after an MK2, I have one and I'm happy with it.

I was mostly curious as to what the common practices were.

That might have been better placed on the original post as an explanation.

Even if it strayed from the OPs intent, I'm glad people talked about it. It's helpful for me to make a decision.
