Re-Buy: Back On The Wrist...

Post by Jcalder68 »

Just before Christmas I bought my C65 Trident Diver (manual wind version, black dial). This was after yet another successful visit to CW Towers showroom and the persuasive charms of Declan and the team. Honest, it was all his fault.
Unfortunately, another family member took a liking to it. He is relatively new to the watch bug, but is now totally hooked. He blantally kidnapped my lovely watch but we did come to an agreement involving a couple of cases of rather good wine and a few bottles of single malt.
Once the alcohol had worn off I dearly missed my watch, so que a regular search for a replacement. In fact, I was looking for an equivalent model for my self and the blue version for him.
Thankfully, my one arrived a couple of days ago. It is in first class condition, came in the leather strap and with full boxes and papers. Many thanks to the member who came to my aid.

Have any other members ever committed a re-buy? If so, what model and for what reason?

I have done that twice, and both times with CWs. I sold my four watches off in 2012, convinced that I was going to wear nothing except vintage from then on, and when I came back to the brand I was always hoping to buy back the C70 DBR1 and got the chance a couple of years ago. Last autumn I also had the chance to buy back a C5 Malvern Mk1 in gold.

Well done on reacquiring the C65. A classic.

Phew, I’m glad I’m not the only one with buy-back fever

Come to think of it, my C60 600 Vintage is, I think, my third one. I sold the first one, bought another but gave that one away, and now have the third one. Hopefully this one will stay longer ;-)

Buy-back fever?

Yeah; I've been there, done that. Two categories;

1. Owned the same make / model of a watch more than once;-

C8 MkI cream dial - bought, sold. Bought another, still got.
C9 2011 FLE - bought, sold. Bought another, still got.
Seiko Orange Monster - Gen #1 - bought, sold. Bought another, still got.
Elliot Brown Bloxworth - bought, sold. Bought another, still got.

2. Owned the same actual watch more than once;-

C80 Sector - bought, sold, bought back, sold on.
Elliot Brown Canford - bought, had customised, sold, bought back, still got.
Elliot Brown Canford Clipper LE - bought, sold, bought back, still got.
Parnis (sterile) Flieger 47mm - bought, sold, got sold to someone else, gifted back, still got.
Oris Pilot Chrono - bought, sold back, bought again, sold back again (would love the opportunity to own this again).

There may be more . . . . . . .
