Have You Seen This Trident Vintage Watch? Ebay / Paypal Fraud
Fellow forum users and watchers - please keep an eye out for this watch - Trident Vintage 43mm Serial No. 3257.
I sold it on ebay 4/3/19 and received an email yesterday from Paypal advising that the transaction wasn't authorised. I've also spoken with the ebay buyer who claims that his account and card was hacked and that the shipping address isn't his address. The 'buyer' seems genuine and I have informed Paypal accordingly, but I'm also aware that I don't know this person.
Fortunately I shouldn't lose out here financially, as I did everything right according to the very pleasant Irish Paypal employee who was still in mourning after the Six Nations result on Saturday! The only negative aspect is it will take a while to unravel between Paypal and the credit card company.
So many hands make light work serial watch buyers you may see this watch appear on ebay or somewhere else - if you do then let me know. The watch was shipped to an address in New Malden KT3 6.
Generally speaking I find ebay a safe place, and I should be financially covered. Apparently this type of fraud will be harder to do from September this year as new security measures will be rolled out.
If you do see the watch for sale, then let me know and I will then pass the information to the relevant organisations.
For ebay transactions always remember to ship to the exact address on Paypal and ideally use a fully tracked service.

Thanks for the heads up Chris.
Hopefully ebay / PayPal will sort everything for you.
In the meantime I've copied your post into the CWE Group on Facebook, as I believe a couple of guys there are looking for a C60 Trident Vintage and might benefit from the warning.

It should all work itself out, unfortunately, eBay/Paypal seem to have sense of urgency over anything anymore. You just have to dig and wait.

Phew not me then! For 10 years until April 2009 I lived in New Malden KT3 3! Obviously the neighbourhood has gone down since I left!!what-time-is-it wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 1:36 pmThe watch was shipped to an address in New Malden KT3 6.
Shouldn't this be reported to the Police?

I'm assuming the address it was posted to is legitimate, i.e., proper bricks and mortar building?
Have you reported it to the local police?
How much feedback does the buyer have? Did the buyer actually want to buy the watch or was he unaware until you contacted him?
Sounds iffy to me that a fraudster would use an account hack and address change to buy a CW watch. It's usually the other way round so they list non-existent watches and run off with the money.

It's odd that you don't offer all those watches you sell on eBay on the forum? And are PS4 games really £500?

Yes, legit address and the account registered 10 years ago, albeit with low feedback but does have some that all looks in order. It'sAliveJim wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:10 pm I'm assuming the address it was posted to is legitimate, i.e., proper bricks and mortar building?

Waiting for direction from PP regarding the police, but will do so if required.
In my ebay experience and I also have a business account with 40k feedback so I've done a fair few ebay transactions - if the owner of the ebay accnt was dodgy I wouldn't have received a reply, so I'm inclined to believe he has clicked a phishing link etc and kept his card details on file.
Regarding selling stuff on here, I have done on occasions but what I sell on here generally takes much longer to sell, than on ebay which has a much greater reach.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Re: Have You Seen This Trident Vintage Watch? Ebay / Paypal Fraud
Resolved surprising quickly, received this yesterday afternoon from PP.
As you know, one of your buyers opened a chargeback with their credit card issuer.
We're happy to confirm that this transaction was covered under Seller Protection as you met the PayPal Seller Protection requirements. The disputed amount is now available in your PayPal balance.
There is no further action required from you. We'll let you know if we need any further information.
Thank you for your patience during this process. We appreciate your business.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

I've not taken it any further as I'm not at a financial loss and haven't been instructed to take further action - whether PayPal do something (unlikely), I have no idea.
Sadly the watch didn't really have any marks or distinctive features, so even if it's sold on ebay we'll only know who the wrongun is, if they sell the watch to someone who is aware of the con and they recognise the 3257 serial number or if they show the serial number in the ad.

One on ebay that has the identical green Zuludiver strap to mine.
I have asked the seller if they can look into it...https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Christopher- ... 2784154301
Updating this thread because I don't want someone to buy it - if it turns out it's legit, I will update.

Just ask to see the c of c to prove it's not a fake. Inform the police if the numbers match and let them take it from there.
If you tell him about the fact that it might be the one effectively stolen, you might alert him to move it on elsewhere.
Woking certainly isn't far from New Malden...

I find it fishy that a seller with only 10 feedbacks is selling 63 items.what-time-is-it wrote:One on ebay that has the identical green Zuludiver strap to mine.
