Re: C7 Apex speculation
It's not even £4k "buy it now" with best offers invited, but rather a £4k starting bid

Re: C7 Apex speculation
Price notwithstanding, I would not buy from someone who steals uses stock web photos because they are to lazy to take their own to sell an expensive, or any, item. I am supposed to believe now, and make a bid, that the item has only been worn twice and is perfect?
Go for it price wise if you want to try and make a profit, but don't insult me by expecting me to completely trust you. Statements might all be true, but doing it this way shows a complete lack of integrity IMO.

Re: C7 Apex speculation
The ebay UK website had a low £1 final value fees promotion which ended at midnight last night. I'm guessing he wanted to list the watch and take advantage of this promo instead of paying full fees and then switch out the photos at a later date.
Dream Plates is probably using this id as it's a private account and therefore qualifies for consumer offers, I believe the other dream plates ebay id is a business account which wouldn't qualify for low fees.
All guesswork of course but that's my take on it.

Re: C7 Apex speculation
eBay will fully protect a buyer if the watch is not as described. The system is also easily gamed if you decide you don't want the item, by declaring it faulty.
No way around it, in those circumstances the seller has to offer a full refund and the worst that ebay will do to the buyer is to put a black mark on their account for misusing the returns system.
So, price aside, I would happily buy it at face value, as I'd easily be able to return it. The problem for the seller, is that they will have to relist, but will be outside of their listing discount window and will have to pay full price on the fees.
I have no input on the value, but you'd get a Rolex or nice Tudor for that sum and I know what I'd prefer.

Re: C7 Apex speculation
yep and the seller has to pay return postage too - fair enough for a genuine faulty item but no leeway for sellers falling victim to gamers.MarkingTime wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 9:23 pm eBay will fully protect a buyer if the watch is not as described. Didn't shift, no bids.
4k was topping it a little! Looks like CW got their pricing spot on.

Re: C7 Apex speculation
I share your pain, really I do. But I do find myself thinking that eBay has never really been a hotbed of genteel and noble sentiment.
Rather less a case of “After you, sir!” than “Get out of my **** way, you **** ****!”
I feel much the same about dealers charging way over RRP for secondhand watches from a certain company.
But in this cutthroat commercial world of ours, I suspect that the lure of a fast buck and the knowledge that someone will pay filthy lucre tends to justify it for some people.
