Help with a legacy purchase please - CONCLUSION

In essence I was looking for advice on a legacy purchase, a Calatrava being the hearts desire but out of reach, and beyond my wife’s tolerance point. Thanks to this forum excellent suggestion were made, the JLC Master Control 1548420 and the Blancpain Villeret Ultraplate 6651-1127-55B being the leading contenders. My wife who isn’t into watches in the way readers of this are, suggested she might like to consider a purchase.
We went to London yesterday and tried both the above watches, the Blancpain being the winner as the JLC considered to be too close to my Omega Connie in design. We also had two very interesting chats with preowned specialists in Burlington Arcade. The conclusion being I might be able to pick up the Calatrava for about £11k, having decided the 511G was the reference I wanted.
In Watches if Switzerland Mrs DJP31 rather liked the Rolex Datejust, which is a huge leap for her and caused her internal turmoil about the spend. She then asked me what turned out to be the acid question - “If you got the XYZ would you still want the Calatrava?”. The answer being yes of course, but it would require a lottery win - and I don’t do the lottery
She stunned me, and herself by suggesting maybe we should go for the Calatrava after all.
So, up to WoS again today and here we are:
And for her:
Needless to say I am over the moon and it is an absolutely stunning watch WoS were, as you’d expect very pleased with us and without prompting gave my wife some Rolex perfume. Apparently you can’t buy it and I’ve never heard of it before - not that I should really.
For me as choice of goodies and I settled on a lovely Patek leather travel case. The whole Patek box and package etc are outstanding- although sane people would argue for the price it damn well should be
Thanks to all who helped, I truly didn’t think I’d end up here but think my Mum would approve - although perhaps not totally comprehend, and I will be reminded of her every time I look at that dial.

Thanks, and to everyone else that has posted such lovely comments I'd be surprised if this is the first Calatrava, but I will take some more photos of the watch, box etc and post under a separate thread.blowfish89 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 5:12 am Wow, Congratulations !!!

Re: Help with a legacy purchase please - CONCLUSION
As well as your fantastic Calatrava, it was clearly meant to be, as it looks like Mrs DPJ31 has ended up with a DJ31.

I think you did right, even if it did cost. Absolutely the watch to remember your mother by. Congrats.
