C65 Trident Automatic
Re: C65 Trident Automatic
That's a nice looking watch and the closest I've come to liking the 9 o'clock word mark, as the twin flags goes some way to filling the acres of space at 12. I didn't immediately notice the black date wheel but once it's pointed out I can't un-see it.
Close but not close enough.

I think Steve’s referencing a nursery rhyme “Mary Mary quite contrary.....”
Might be a UK only one you need to google!

It’s bloody nice! Especially the blue.
Well done cw. The c65 range is very strong indeed

I know it, actually read it to my daughter last night but clearly don’t know the meaning of it!Thegreyman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 11:22 pmI think Steve’s referencing a nursery rhyme “Mary Mary quite contrary.....”

Re: C65 Trident Automatic
I love it. The blue on bracelet will be my next purchase.
I think CW killed it on this one. If they would master a textured ceramic bezel insert for this watch, it would be a home run that would pull in a lot of non-CW WIS. I think it will do a decent job of that as it is, now that I think of it.

+1 for the addition of a matte ceramic bezel insert. It would have to be matte though, gloss would ruin the look.Robotaz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:06 am I love it. The blue on bracelet will be my next purchase.

The rest of the case is so strong - great design and form, robust materials and engineering, even a decent sapphire crystal. The aluminium bezel insert is definitely the “weak” point for potential wear I fear. Saying that though, it won’t automatically stop me buying one (I’ve had aluminium bezels in the past) and who says a few scuffs and dings in the softer material won’t actually enhance the vintage look after a year or so?

I'm clumsy and always seem to knock my watches. Only my ceramic c60 bezel remains unscathed. So change that and I'm in !

Re: C65 Trident Automatic
It looks great on a strap (as does the hand wind), but I can't help thinking of Downer's rule.
Plus, I was thinking of getting the C7 Chrono Auto on the strap based on photos, but in the metal it just worked on the bracelet. I've got a strap to put it on, but won't bother.
One good thing about straps, the kids and mrs can wear them without massive adjustment procedures. Strangely, this helps to justify the purchase - Mrs H wears my CWs as much as me, so she can't complain about me buying new ones.
Mrs H can't wear my bracelet watches, so she frowns on those.

Over the many years I’ve been buying and selling I’ve developed a superhero talent of avoiding scratches and dings. It’s like there’s a supernatural protective orb around my wrist! lolJcalder68 wrote:+1 for the addition of a matte ceramic bezel insert. The raised crystal will protect that bezel anyway. I would be shocked if I scratched it. I’d bet $100 it never happens.

Re: C65 Trident Automatic
You like the blue in the auto but the black in the handwound.
That sounded contrary and when someone is being contrary, I think of the nursery rhyme.
It wasn’t intended to mock or be rude, it’s just something I say to anyone being contrary. Apologies if my sense of humour was misplaced.
Steve.
