Re: What are your watch plans for 2019?
I've got the GMT Master Root Beer on order but unlikely to secure one this year.
If I buy a watch it will likely be a Genta designed/inspired piece - I have a yearning!
Either a Nautilus (some chance!), AP Royal Oak (was offered one just before Christmas but dithered and lost it!), GP Laureato or a Bulgari Octo which I am becoming inreasingly attracted to.
P.S. SWMBO knows nothing whatsoever about any of the above!!

Time flies whether you're having fun or not. The choice is yours.

Sounds good, we were on the Queen Beatrice, maximum of 16 passengers, although we only had 14 (a couple of cabins were occupied by single passengers). Much better and way more personal than the 99 passenger ones (the largest allowed BTW). Twenty is basically no different, should be really good. Hope you have a nice bunch of shipmates - we did and it makes for a really enjoyable trip.NotEnoughWrists wrote:On the Monserrat, which is a 20 passenger vessel.
Had a look at the various options and it looked a bit more personal for the tours than the larger ones, as well as the restrictions of who sails where at the time we want to go.
Definitely the trickiest trip we've had to plan, with so many variables to consider.
Envious... bordering on jealous.

Well that changed......MiniMpi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 4:07 pm I have one due in February but after that nothing planned.
I do have an option on one that I'm still considering which might be done before the New Year though.
I'll be 50 in 2020 so.......I have something in mind but we'll wait and see how things unfold.
Also the CW sale might send some temptation my way...
I have incoming.... !

Re: What are your watch plans for 2019?
Sorry lol had to be done
I'd rather wait for the unveiling photos to be honest, hopefully this weekend.
Not bought in the sale though...but direct from CW.

Sell a watch and book a return visit- i'm sure you won't miss one from your vast collectiongaf1958 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:59 pmSounds good, we were on the Queen Beatrice, maximum of 16 passengers, although we only had 14 (a couple of cabins were occupied by single passengers). Iirc, Ferg did once own a Bulova, but soon sold it to fund another CW purchase
Congrats Ferg, look forward to seeing what you have bought.

Trying to behave myself!
Spent a fortune on a couple of Tudors and a car this year
so...
...I might risk a sideways peek, with one eye, on the upcoming C65 GMT Pepsi but other than that...

A Genta designed/influenced integrated lug/bracelet SS sports watch is about the only style of watch I don’t have (that I have any interest in), that would have me seriously thinking of selling a few of my decent watches to fund.
I think the GMT Master Root Beer was the pick of the brands 2018 releases.

11 days on from posting the above...StrapMeister wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 3:04 pm I already have a number of incoming watches which include a Formex Essence plus 3 vintage Seiko's.
Plus I have another Seiko on the watch list/currently negotiating a price.
I'm also after a C6 Kingfisher LE (blue) to complete the CW FLE sub-collection.
What does 2019 hold?
Well to be honest, I'm not really sure!
It depends on how the job goes and there could be a potential house move on the cards so best keep some funds in reserve.
Having said that...
I'm finding that some sub-£500 watches give me just as much satisfaction and pleasure as £1000+ ones.
At the same occasion, I'm missing, amongst others, a Moonphase, a GMT and a Worldtimer in the collection so they'll be on the radar.
I'd also love a Rolex Explorer II (polar).
However, I'll need to trim down my current collection in order to release funds for these.
It appears that I have completely blown my budget for 2019
The 3 vintage Seiko's turned up 2 Giugarios and a Kinteic.
I didn't go for the Seiko "bat" as the price was too high.
I'm still waiting for the Formex Essence which, iirc, is likely to be March now (but that's already paid for).
However, as for the "missing in my collection" watches are concerned, I have secured and received 3 of them with the 4th waiting on confirmation
Why do they always come up for sale at once
So the rest of the year is now going to be selling a few watches and servicing a few I have.

Re: What are your watch plans for 2019?
Haha, I’m of the mind that if I’m going somewhere for two weeks, I should have a proper go at it and have a two month long trip. My wife goes one step further and would say three months.NotEnoughWrists wrote:Sell a watch and book a return visit- i'm sure you won't miss one from your vast collection

Re: What are your watch plans for 2019?
I usually begin the year by saying no watches, or at least only ones I really NEED.
In theory that should mean no watches at all.
This tactic usually works very well.
Until about March.
