If Erika's up for it, I see no problem.

Pictures please.

Erika Eleniak, from 90s Baywatch and the original Under Siege movie?

Definitely hot tub worthy.

What has this thread got to do with straps? :curious:

Should it be moved to 'Off Topic'?

These things have been in military conflicts and in space. If the hot tub isn’t too hot for you, then it should be no problem, but if the hardware is bronze, it may be reset by the chlorine. The SS version should be fine though.

Glad we got that sorted.

I'd be more worried about having a watch in the Hot Tub. Thinking about thermal expansion of the metal case, crown, screw threads, seals.

Fears may be unfounded but better safe than sorry.

I’ve done a test for you. Erika sent me a sample of the Vintage, and I poured boiling water on a piece, then left it there for 20 minutes with no apparent molecular change. It’s still as stretchy as it was before the experiment. I took a short video but couldn’t work out how to upload it so a photo of the unboiled (left) and boiled (right) versions is the best I can offer.

Image

The fraying is because I cut a piece off with scissors instead of whatever heated high falutin’ cutting tool Erika uses.

The colour change is because the boiled piece is still wet. I’m drying it and will post results when that phase of the test is complete. I was drying it on an aga but decided that in itself may invalidate the test results.

Finally, for the avoidance of litigation, I am not in any way suggesting you heat your hot tub to boiling point. Just in case.

Not gonna post a picture but I can confirm after drying the two pieces appear structurally identical. So, aside from the risk of ending up with unpatinated bronze hardware, I’d conclude you are good to go (yes, I know you decided to do that before the test was performed).
