Post by tempusmaximus »

Baume (without 'Et Mercier' ) is Richemont's new value proposition .Asian movements , eco friendly materials and online configurator , Richemont goes hipster ?

From the article:

Oh, and it’s important to note that this new Baume brand does not replace Baume et Mercier (that made a strong come-back with the new Baumatic, earlier this year.)

How confusing is that going to be?

It will probably also tank the used value of all of the “et Mercier” watches around the place... not that it was ever great, but now it’ll be worse again.

^^ Fully agree. You have to wonder about these "brand strategists"...

These have got to be 'fashion' watches, not aimed at the WIS Brigade.

Right?

Seem to be overpriced for this segment of the market and without the cachet of a luxury brand name. Name on its own sounds like someone trying to knock off the Baume et Mercier brand name.

Is this a joke?

Eco friendly materials "Non mined diamonds" in a £400 watch? (Wow no kidding) Non animal skin watch straps? (Yeah because you cant get them for a few quid on amazon or ebay) Eco friendly watch with a Miyota movement, what the hell does that mean?

So in short its a micro brand watch produced by a multi million pound company using the name of a once great watch company.

Sorry April 1st was last month.

On another note, quick google of "Baumatic" comes up with dishwashers and cookers.
