Breitling crown fault

Post by mcb2007 »

I have a Breitling Superocean 2002 model that has developed a fault with the crown. It's pulls out to every step and adjusts hands and date but will not screw down , it pops back out .

Can anyone recommend an independent watch repairer that deal with Breitling , with it being so old I don't really want to send to BUK .

Just wondering if it might be worth getting it serviced if it hasn't been done already? That way, you get the crown fixed as well as all the internal parts checked, cleaned and oiled. Case, bezel and bracelet will come back looking new as these are refurbished as part of the service.

Any recommendations on an independent repairer rather than BUK.

I could recommend my local repairer here in Surrey but I think you're in Bury (which I never knew was home of the black pudding). You could look here to find an accredited repairer near you:

Watch Doctors in Tring have done a great job servicing my Rolex and a couple of others for my friend, they accept either in person or by post once you have completed their form.

Did a search and came up with Christian Dior ?

Tried Genesis but Duncan can't do repair as Breitling don't sell parts ?

Watch Doctor don't list Breitling so they prob won't do it either.

Apparently it needs a new mid case stem and crown, because the tube is soldered in . But then BUK will want yo service it so that amount will be more than the watch is worth .

Could the solder be melted out and a new generic tube fitted and a new stem ? Any ideas appreciated.

Where / who did you get this information from?

Has someone looked at the watch? In which case are they capable of repairing it?

I took it to a local watch repairer who's had it three days and said he can't get parts.

Then I spoke to perpetual time who told me over the phone it would need the new case .

The other bit just seemed like a solution , the watch would stay with me and be serviced by anyone but Breitling . It's 15 year old and I didn't want to chuck more at it than it's worth.
