Favorite single detail on a CW (in pictures)

Post by leftfoot »

Image

After just reading through Dave's excellent post regarding his case rehab on a C11 Makaira I saw a detail in the design of an above pictured C11 that I really loved. At the 3 o'clock position there is a red detail that is just fantastic (a bit like your shield from the space invaders video game). For me it is the asymmetry of its placement that just draws my eye. While I am aware there is no new idea under the sun, this just stands out for me as darn near brazen.

While you may not (or who knows you might) agree with me on this specific point, there must be others here who are sticklers for details. So, please share a picture with a description of your own favorite small detail on your CW or like me another asylum member's CW watch.

Anyone know what the red design is? I even asked Declan when I was at CW Towers, but he was unsure!

I believe it to be an altimeter inspired design feature.

it is indeed altimeter inspired - it's a mean sea level marker (hence msl in the watch name)

The metal V surround that leads the eye beautifully from the dial centre to the hour display on the Mk.1 Jump Hour.

It's a feature I'm surprised they dropped on the subsequent releases.

For me it would be the dial of the C1, a masterpiece in its own right. But especially the double sunk seconds dial with that exquisite railway track.
