Blue dial - what colour leather?
Blue dial - what colour leather?
My Colt. I don't know if it's just me, but I find it really hard to match the right blue strap with a blue dial.
The strap in the second picture is the closest match I've found (after a lot of tries), but unfortunately it's not comfortable enough.
Leather is my preference, and my question essentially is should I stick with a near-match blue strap, or give up trying to get the perfect match and go for a totally different colour - black or brown perhaps?
Ta in advance.

Or try black leather with blue stitching.
Just a thought!

Personally - and this is just personal preference - I am not a fan of blue straps.
I'd go with a reddish brown for a more lively look or black for a more formal/dressy look.

Blue dials are tough. This is the nicest example I've found (which I've since shamelessly copied). First pic was found on Watchuseek, the second pic is my watch.

I think a chestnut brown would set off the dial nicely.

Here's my favourite blue dial+brown strap example (from the WIAA review of the Slimline):

Re: Blue dial - what colour leather?
What I would suggest, brown with blue stitching, has been covered
The only alternative I can think of is the black strap with blue visible through perforations. Racing driver style. I have one but can't recall who supplied it (probably just a quick ebay suck-it-and-see purchase). Found example if you click here.
Other than that ignore the dial colour and get a mesh strap?

I sometimes wear this Hirsch Tiger on my blue Superocean, very comfy, and a good colour match.

Some interesting options - thanks everyone. I've tried a few of these options in the past, but the brown and black options I haven't - so I'll give them a go next.

Re: Blue dial - what colour leather?
I think blue dialled watches look best on bracelets. A blue strap and watch combo is just too blue. Any other colour doesn't quite work.

Re: Blue dial - what colour leather?
I think that a dark brown leather strap looks really good on blue dial watches. That's what I would do if I owned one.

Re: Blue dial - what colour leather?
Definitely the dark brown strap! A blue on blue combination is too much blue for me, but the contrast with a brown strap reeks of class. A dark blue watch is actually my current pursuit, in case anyone has a C9 to offer

Re: Blue dial - what colour leather?
Blue strap IMO better looking with blue hands, but not with blue dial. This is a good example of blue strap usage.
BUT. Blue and blue is not same.
This kind of blue making solid costume style and looks properly.
This blue looking sporty and relaxed.
This blue... oh, that's just horrible
But for me only metal bracelet working with blue dial
