AP Royal Oak
Am I the only one that doesn't get it aesthetically? on another forum i frequent, it's one of the golden children there. i just don't find it attractive at all.

Re: AP Royal Oak
It's not IMO beautiful, I admit I think it looks like some welded nuts and bolts, prefer the Nautilus and Ingenieur of the Genta designs watches.

You are far from alone. Remembering that all designs are subjective, this is one that I would not miss. Never liked it.

Re: AP Royal Oak
I like it and see the appeal but this discussion makes me think even if I had that kind of money to waste would I buy a watch that expensive? I might have said yes at one stage but now I don't think so.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

Re: AP Royal Oak
I don't like the AP Royal Oak at all. But then I don't like the Omega Speedmaster either (though I am warming up to it slowly).

Re: AP Royal Oak
Same here, I never liked the Royal Oak design wise and always preferred the PP Nautilus.

Re: AP Royal Oak
I think the Royal Oak is revered more for its exclusivity than it's aesthetic appeal. At least I assume it is, I find the design rather ugly much like the others do.

I have a hard time buying exclusive, uninspired, and expensive.

Re: AP Royal Oak
Well, I think it is an inspiredly hideous design. I meant that the expense was what makes it exclusive, which means most would have hard time buying one period. In the end we agree that they are ugly.gwells wrote:I have a hard time buying exclusive, uninspired, and expensive.

Re: AP Royal Oak
I can see the appeal of all of the Genta designed pieces, even the downright bonkers ones but I would not purchase an APRO or a Nautilus even if I had the funds to do so.
Re: AP Royal Oak
Hi
Heard the one about fools and their money being easily parted!
The first reaction i had to this was it was a quick throw together and looked incomplete, many months later i read a review about it and my thoughts were right it had been drawn up in one night and rushed into production for an exhibition what a racket they are having with this. One of my Russian distributors had one at a sales meeting we were attending and i asked to have a look which he obliged , i thought even less of after seeing it in the flesh.
Just goes to show that a well known name can produce some poor designs as well
not for me thanks.

Re: AP Royal Oak
That is a watch that I've never liked nor understood why someone would spend that kind of money on one.

Re: AP Royal Oak
Iconic yes, it's been around since 1972 therefore some must like it. As for me it's a no.
