Re: Non CW of the Day
Thanks Chuck, high praise coming from you! I had been meandering about a GS spring drive for a good while to fit in as a white faced GADA opposite my Chronoswiss but there were a few issues:
not generally a fan of dauphine hands (but the lume fill on this makes them look sharper/more elegant)
no lume and/or no blued sweep hand
case
Lindsey's thread on "one watch" circuitously prompted me to this old 099 and a good price sparked serious temptation. Then, coincidentally a small windfall made it irresistable...
And so it goes!
I'll maybe do a write up in a coupla weeks since I think a few other inmates are curious and we have a some GSs on the forum.

Re: Non CW of the Day
Here are a couple of close up photos of the gear housing on my Aquatimer.
The gear housing?
Yes, the gear housing. Let me explain.
Possibly when you first saw this watch you had one of three thoughts.
A) That crown for the internal bezel looks a bit big
B) Blimey, and I thought Omega could make an obtrusive helium valve.
C) What’s that monstrosity at 9 o’clock?
Well it’s non of the above but actually the housing for the gear mechanism that links the two bezels.
The external stainless steel unmarked bezel is bi directional and it links to the internal uni directional bezel by what is behind this cover.
When you turn the external bezel anti clockwise, the gears engage and the 60 click internal bezel moves like any normal bezel. But when you turn the external bezel clockwise, the gears disengage and the internal bezel stays in place.
I believe this is an IWC patent which is why you may not have seen it before. It’s is a fantastic design and piece of engineering and another reason I’m drawn to this unusual watch.

That’s such a cool feature. One of those brilliant ideas that make you think ‘why did nobody think of that before’.... fabulous watch
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Cool feature on a seriously cool watch - that from a guy who doesn't really do divers, well except when diving that is.
Many thanks for sharing.

Another blue watch: where will it end? How many blue watches can a fellow have? Is there such a thing as too many?
