Beautiful watch, Tim. I'm considering purchasing the Green 39.5mm Aquis on bracelet from Gnomon for US$1680. Do you think the premium over a Trident C60 is worth it? I'm not seriously contemplating the Trident because green is not an option, but given the movements are identical, I'm curious if the Oris' fit and finish justify the premium.

On a related note, no AD in my area can beat the Gnomon price, so if I do buy it, I will alas have to deal with customs as Gnomon is in Singapore.
Best regards,
John

Thank you very much. I agree entirely, but then I am biased.

Thanks John, I’ve no longer got a C60 to compare it to but I’m of the opinion that the Aquis is a very high quality offering that’s probably superior to the C60 (well at least the Mk 2). The finish is excellent, time keeping is about +2 sec and the range of imaginative colours and complications is making me want more.

The C60 bracelet possibly edges it because of the easy link adjustment and the Aquis lugs do limit your strap option; yet the Aquis rubber strap is truly fantastic with its own easy link deployant clasp. I’ve been wearing it on rubber all summer and probably adjust it a couple of times a day as my wrist expands and contracts with the heat.

It’s obviously more expensive, but I bought mine as a four month old used piece without a mark on it at a very reasonable price, so I’m very happy with its value. Would I have paid full price? Probably yes. I’ve been seriously looking at the new GMT version which is pretty expensive at £2k but I reckon I’d pay it, unless of course the outcome of ongoing FLE design discussions comes to a satisfactory conclusion...

Tim, many thanks for your help! I may wait opportunistically for a sale somewhere or perhaps a used model, but the temptation is great with such a beauty. I appreciate your thoughts.

Avenger Blackbird 44 on a CW Tiber leather strap. I do like this combo! And the Breitling buckle fit too :-)
