Frank, you do indeed, once you have seen one in the flesh they are rather special. Photos just do not do justice to the transparent depth of the black lacquer - though I keep trying! I also lust after the ceramic dial Presages, but have resisted (so far) as the designs are too similar to my SARD012.nordwulf wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 3:14 amit's not an Urushi dial as far as I know, just a deep shiny black. The model number is SARW015.
I had to look up 'Urushi' as I was not familiar with it. Now I do want a watch with an Urushi dial..

A real addict! But they are gorgeous and the hand painting is just incredible. I think these are much under appreciated, but understandably as they have to be seen in the flesh.Thunder1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 2:45 amA gorgeous example!!..the rose gold accents compliment the dial face splendidly..it's a wonder what Japanese craftsmen can do w/ brushes constructed from the underarm hair of rats..here's few of mine to continue the parade...
1st, a SARX029..
Next, it's close cousin, a SARW013..
An finally, a SRQ021J1..
Hopefully. there are pics of others out there..

Alas, mine died and after 4 returns for repair, I decided that we should part company. The AD was unable to supply another and Alpina were apparently unwilling to assist, so a refund was gratefully received!StrappedUp wrote:^^^ where's yours got to Nick?
Shame really as it was a corking watch!
Strangely I have had 3 Alpinas and all of them have had to go back for repair within 2 weeks. 2 had to go back multiple times before refunds, and I still have the third.
