(old photo)

Quite a likeable watch with lugs about the same thickness as those on the newly released Submariner. :silent:

Question for you Guy...
You have always been consistent in that you do not like Rolex or any of their watches so what makes this one likeable to your eye when it is a straight forward rip off copy of the 116610lv (hulk)?
not having a pop but genuinely interested
An interesting and difficult question to answer Paul, to which I'm not sure I have a direct, short answer other than to say its a fun watch for a fraction of the price of the real thing (and I'm under no illusion that it is not the real thing) - if that makes sense.

Your suggestion that it is a straight forward rip off copy of the 116610lv is a bit harsh, bit if it is a 'copy' (which it isn't specifically, as there's a difference in the thickness of the lugs) then its one of a myriad of 'copies' (homage) produced by a multitude of brands.

However, your question has reminded me of a topic I started nigh on exactly two years ago entitled;- A Quintet of Subs . . .

Having reread it there are some very interesting comments in it, most particularly this one;-

Is your avowed resistance to Rolex softening slightly Guy?
I don't think so Patrick.

I'm very comfortable with my current collection and my ethos of most of them being slightly left field. Plus whilst I have bought a number of more valuable watches in recent months, the idea of paying double for a further single watch makes me nervous.

Mind you, three years ago, the idea of buying some of my current collection would have made me feel extremely nervous at that time.

It's all relative I suppose.

TheBeatles wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:34 am Another question for you Guy.

They also have a similar model with a date, does yours have a hidden date wheel?

I quite like this no date model, I don’t have a green dial in my collection.
Yes. There is a ghost/2nd position for the crown normally occupied by the date wheel.

Hope this helps.

The background yes. The watch no.

Now get back outside and take some pics of the watch with a scenic holiday backdrop..

Are you in your often visited location?

We are indeed Neil. Was very difficult to organise too. Wanted to take my daughter away with us as she lives on her own, 150 miles away. As you can imagine, lockdown was hard for her, particularly as she’s an NHS worker. By the time we managed to synchronise our hols, there was nothing left to book.

Managed to get 3 nights in Staveley and 4 nights in Keswick in the end. Cost an absolute fortune. Would have gotten two weeks for the price, last year!

Congratulations Paul.

What are your initial impressions?

I am waiting for the first person to comment that the watch on your wrist doesn’t appear to be a new blue OP! :)
