New Rolex Oyster Perpetual Models - in bright colours...
Now Sir what colour dial would you like, the red, yellow, green, turquoise or the usual colours?

Oh they have also launched a few new Submariner and Submariner date models. But no need to dwell on those.

Bloody horrible. Very disappointed with what they have done with the op range. Terrible colours, dropped the user friendly 39mm size and worse of all stopped the 3 6 9 blue version of the 36mm.
Cheers now, Paul

So the interesting colours in the OP range are restricted to the 36mm and 31mm models. Does Rolex think that “real men” don’t like bright colours?

Just don't understand - the watch world have moved to smaller 38-40mm cases and Rolex decide to increase their case sizes?

Duh... Thanks Paul. I looked again and found it. I must admit the 41 in dark blue, green or (surprisingly) even yellow could make me put Rolex back on the shopping list...
Although why they went from 39 to 41mm case sizes is beyond me.

Gary I did think of you when I saw the dial colours!
Re case sizes:
The slimmer, less bulked out lugs on the new 41mm Submariners will likely mean they wear no different to the outgoing 40mm versions.
For the OP41, I doubt if it’s actually 41mm, bearing in mind the DJ41 isn’t 41mm either.

Oh well, I guess they've gotta try to reduce demand somehow...

I must say, the 41mm with the bright blue dial is a bit tasty!

The new no-date Sub, on the other hand, would be perfect if not for the shiny shiny bezel!

Re: New Rolex Oyster Perpetual Models - in bright colours...
What happens to current stocks (if there are any) of OP39s? And second hand prices now that it is a discontinued model?
I have been saving for one for a couple of years and I'll be most dischuffed if it were to become even more unattainable.
I liked the case size and the dial simplicity of the 39. I would be happy with a 36 size-wise but that had the twin marker on the quarters, a feature I don't get on with, which has now made its way to all sizes by the look of it. I quite like the boldness of the colours, though I don't think I'd actually be up for buying one.
Hmmm.

Re: New Rolex Oyster Perpetual Models - in bright colours...
I agree the Sub 41mm will still be very wearable. The case does looks slightly narrower and the 114060 dial does feel quite small so another 1mm will be fine for all wrist sizes on the 124060. It also now has the 3235 movement rather than the 3130 movement in the 114060. Price is £6,450 though, a full £1,000 more than it was only a year or so ago I quite like the two tone steel and gold version too

As for the OP, the colours look meh (for a Rolex) although might look a bit better in the flesh. It seems just daft to drop the 39 for a 41mm. Fine for a diver with bezel but for a dressy sports watch, I just don't get it.

The new OP colours are horrible. They look like $500 microbrand dials. And, like Stefs, I mourn the loss of the 3-6-9 dialed OP 36.

Made me chuckle but I have to agree with you. That range of colours is the last thing I would have expected from Rolex.
Cheers now, Paul
