Thanks folks, yes the SMP white dial. It's a watch I've admired for a while and recently decided it could be for me. I arranged a visit to a local Omega AD this morning. A very strange environment with staff sat behind a perspex screen and wearing a face mask. Difficult to chat with the staff and does detract from the experience somewhat as you can't really have the normal full chat with the staff.

Anyway back to the watch, I tried both the bracelet and the rubber strap versions. The bracelet is nice, has the micro adjustment which is great, although the clasp is particularly large, noticeably more than my PO. The rubber strap just really suits the watch so well that I decided to ignore Downers rules and go with the rubber strap. If I had bought the bracelet model which was already about £250 more then I would definitely have still wanted a rubber strap and decent ones with fitted ends, you are into rubberb/Everest price territory and spending another few hundred pounds. I like the semi casual look with the rubber strap, it is very comfortable, and I already have a bracelet for virtually every other diver in my collection already so it is good to go for a change.

Guy, the free watch was of course my PO, unfortunately didn't get quite as good a deal as that! The waves are indeed really subtle and I love the crisp look of the dial. The hands are edged in black so I don't think legibility will be an issue at all. I like the date at 6 as generally I do like a date function and this positioning keep the dial in balance. One gripe I've heard about the SMP's was that the bezel action was quite stiff, but I don't find that at all.

Mark, I just actually noticed that you had this very watch yesterday. It's encouraging that you also seem to love it and think it suits the rubber strap. I like the photo above of yours paired with mine!

Chuck, thanks for the customary good wishes from the watch gods!! I think I'll raise a glass of ale later (well I am on holiday from work this week, so not a school night) and toast a fine-a** watch indeed.

I think this watch shows what a great value proposition Omega offer with this watch, when compared to some rivals near or above this price point.

^^^ Congratulations Patrick.

Likewise my preferred combination of that model would be the white on a black rubber strap.

As you say, no need to buy on a bracelet when you have plenty of alternatives that remain on a bracelet.

Sincere congratulations Patrick on your SMP! The white dial is striking and I quite like it on the OEM rubber strap. I'll PM you a link to Aaron Bespoke and perhaps a custom created, fitted end, non-rubber strap could be in your future!!

Thanks again all for the comments and to Lance for tempting me to spend more money on a different strap for the SMP!

Congrats. I think a two piece collection of the black and the white SMP could most likely cater for just about all dress-up, dress-down occasions. Beautiful watches. I love the bracelet on those, but do agree the white looks especially good on black rubber.

Beautiful watch Patrick. My favourite model out of the latest Seamasters.

Out of interest, how does it stack up against the PO?
