Meistersinger now on sale via CW site

Post by Amor Vincit Omnia »

Well, that was a bit of a surprise. I wonder whether we had been talking it up on the thread about single hand watches? When I wrote yesterday that I had a vague hankering for a Meistersinger I had absolutely no idea that within hours they would be on the CW site! Prophetic or what?

https://www.christopherward.co.uk/meistersinger-range

It doesn’t look as though they are selling the full range, unless that IS the full range now. However, I suppose it is perfectly possible that more will be added. And that 35% discount looks quite tasty.

Interesting. Whilst I do appreciate simplicity, I have to say my ideals tend more towards complications when it comes to watches...

I just saw this browsing, is this a first for CW, selling another brand’s watches?

I’m not familiar with MeisterSinger, how do they compare with CW?

I'm not particularly impressed

Kind of goes against the original ethos of CW as a brand.
I suspect this has been a board decision which only emphasises to me that it's another reason why Chris left CW.

I think you need to perhaps understand why they have done this....

Can you explain please. I have no clue either. Are Meistersinger owned by CW now?

Isn’t Meistersinger linked to Horolowhatsit, the CW, “conjoined at the hip”, watchmaker? Meistersinger certainly use the SH21 movements! Maybe the tie in is deeper rooted than we know?

Edit: looking at the explanation on the website, which talks about helping out a fellow small watchmaker (paraphrased) if CW’s watchmaking partner/Siamese twin, makes watches for Meistersinger, it makes sense to help keep the work flowing out the door, as it were! Mutual benefitio.

Sadly confirms some watch brands are on life support and for the Meistersinger brand feels like they will consider any sales channel that remains open and they are connected by SH if I recall.

For CW they are trying to help, but it's a poor move selling other brands on your own website, especially as MS must be struggling and potentially have an uncertain future.

Desperate times, desperate measures.

Edit: Unless of course CW are feeling the pinch or running short on stock/movements and need to diversify what they are selling...
Current collection incl Alpina, Breitling, Bulova, Casio, Citizen, Eterna, Oris, Rado, Raymond Weil, Rolex, Seiko, Tag, Timex, Tudor & Victorinox.

The site sort of feels like it's struggling, must be a lot of traffic on it?

I'd like to see some of the 40mm models made available. And strangely, for a single-handed watch, I'm attracted to the more complex dials...

Maybe this is a toe in the water, Richard.

Probably is a lot of traffic at the moment.

Everyone who has set up an auto-refresh / notification for the Daily Specials that will be running 24/7. :escape:

This is entirely my line of thinking Steve.

I don't think there is any deeper tie in than a parent company using the resources of big son to help out little son.

Jumping hour models seem to have faded out over time on the CW website - has this model line been canned?
As they are not a direct competitor at present, perhaps that's why they are there.

Opens the door for a Christopher Ward Meistersinger re-brand.

Still think it's the wrong move, albeit it's a very niche brand and market.
